OcUK New PC SPECIFICATION

Hi there, I am going to be placing a order with OcUK for a new budget pc, but need your help and advice on the parts.

My budget is very limited.

CPU = £64.50 - AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+ 3.00GHz (Socket AM2) - Retail

MOBO = £43.46 - MSI K9N Neo V3 nForce 560 (Socket AM2) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

RAM = £27.01 - GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC)

Graphics = £45.81 PNY GeForce 8800 GT 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

Case - £28.19 Akasa AK-ZEN-01-WH Rev.4 Zen White Case - No PSU

PSU = £27.01 // Gigabyte SUPERB 460w PSU

Will there be any problems or compatibility issues ? or any problems.

Your comment will be much appreciated.

budget £200 (don't want to go to max £250 tbh)

What is B Grade? refurbished items, returned goods, no warrenty.. a bit confused.

I am interested in all avaliable options even if it means B Grade.

yes bgrade is refurbished items, returned goods etc. they come with complete remaining maunfacturers warranty and 14 days shop warranty. what the pc is goign to be used for will be nice to know as well.

The PC will be mainly used for school work, and to play Counter-Strike Source, Team Fortress 2, and Call Of Duty 4

at that budget you're much better off getting used parts where possible. Something like a P35 mobo (with integrated sound) and a £30 core2duo with a stock cooler, 2Gb PC6400 RAM and the best gpu you can afford (something like a 9600GT would be great). TF2 and CS:S aren't too demanding but COD4 needs a bit more power. Antec do some good cases with reliable PSUs included for about £60. Do you have access to members market yet or is it 250 posts minimum?

You are missing a hard disk and optical drive from your spec too.

I think the spec the OP listed is quite good. The AMD CPU is equivalent to an E6600/E6550 and that would be hard to get on a cheaper budget considering intel motherboards are usually more expensive (and an expensive, decent overclocking one would be needed if you got a cheap intel CPU).
PSU should be ok for that system. If you game at above 1024x 768 youre probably better of with a 512MB card like the HD 3850 (& its only a little more expensive than the 256MB card you listed).

Agree with used parts. I've put a good Intel/ATI package together though which came out quite well.

You didn't have Hard Disk, Optical Drive, Software etc on your original spec list..?

Unless the OP overclocks that Intel CPU a bit the AMD 6000+ (with motherboard) will be faster. Though the 4670 is a good choice. Low power draw, 512 mb ram and fast for the price.

I can use the /psu/hdd/cd-dvd/floopy from my other pc, hence why I did not mention it on the opening thread.

I won't be doing any overclocking at all, however, Duke I am definately interested in 4670 512 graphic card as quoted.

What does OP mean?

Yes I do, I am known as Fragmaster.

Where is the B grade section listed under OcUK .. cannot seem to find it. url ?

My opening thread items are valued within my budget £181.96 = total.

Graphics = £45.81 PNY GeForce 8800 GT 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

I would like to replace this graphic card with another;

Options are:

£54.04 - Gainward ATI Radeon HD 3850 Pro 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail
668MHz Core, 512MB 1656MHz GDDR3 Memory, 320 Stream Processors

£68.14 - Gainward ATI Radeon HD 3870 XT 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail
776MHz Core, 512MB 1900MHz GDDR3 Memory, 320 Stream Processors

( just gone over my budget of £200 // £204.29 with HD 3870 XT 512MB GDDR3 )

The 3850 will flatten the 8800GT at higher res's and texture settings even though it's a bit slower because of the 512mb on board.

Clockable too.

I presume the 3850/3870 is better than 4650/70 as it only has 128-Bit Memory Interface, compared to 256bit.
