The gains are pretty special (makes the 2080 over 40% faster than the 1080ti) but who knows if it will ever become mainstream etc.
Might as well add this one. Jayz2cents breakdown, to summarise disappointing and don’t buy.
Based on the specs it is pretty much what I expected. Had they not gone for tensor cores it would have been 50% easily. But I am happy they did. We may see some great use of RTX in the near future. So the 2080 comes in pretty much exactly where I said it would, basically on par with the 1080Ti.
And to be honest, I am a little disappointed with the 2080ti, I was fully expecting that card to hit close to the 50% faster than the 1080ti.
Did any reviews go into more detail with DLSS? There were a few synthetic benchmarks, but, nothing else as far as I could see?
Thanks, I saw those, but they are just synthetic benchmarks not real game play. I was hoping to see more games using it in the reviews. Just everyone seems to have the same canned benchmarks.
It hit 50% and over on some titles and the DLSS review (although limited to 2 titles) was pushing close to 100% so I have no idea why you are disappointed.... these results are very impressive for the 2080TiSo the 2080 comes in pretty much exactly where I said it would, basically on par with the 1080Ti.

Disappointed in DLSS, it basically looks like a worse version of lowering render scale 10% with about the same or less performance increase.
+1Looks like my wallet and 1080ti are safe for another day
nVidia practically doubled the price of the 1080TI for 30% more performance, the 2080TI is £1150, the 2080 £850 so the 2070 will be £600, we really are now paying way over £500 for a mid range card, its ####'ing insane.
So 30% more performance for 80% more money.
Brilliant. i'm guessing the 2070 will also cost 80% more than the 1070 for 30% more performance.
Maybe a 2060 for 5% higher performance at only 40% more money?
Or a 2050 for 20% less performance, but its ok, it only costs 10% more.
Yeah, i think i'll give this generation a miss.
I think you were wrong, personally. Some of the games show the potential of the 2080 over the old Ti and it's in the region of 40%. YOu took issue when I said it would be a decent amount faster . Granted it's going to be newer games probably but I can see the average performance increase getting better in newer titles (IMO) .So the 2080 comes in pretty much exactly where I said it would, basically on par with the 1080Ti.
