Does anyone know why OCUK have the OCZ ATI Certified memory as
- 800MHz DDR2
- CL 4-4-4-12
- (CAS-TRCD-TRP-TRAS)
- Available in 2GB (2X1024) dual channel optimized kit
- Unbuffered
- ATI XTC Heatspreader*
- Lifetime Warranty
- 2.1 Volts
- 240 Pin DIMM

yet OCZ website says
800MHz DDR2
CL 4-4-4-15
(CAS-TRCD-TRP-TRAS)
Available in 2GB (2X1024) dual channel optimized kit
Unbuffered
ATI XTC Heatspreader*
Lifetime Warranty
2.1 Volts
240 Pin DIMM

here is the link http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memory/ocz_ddr2_pc2_6400_ati_crossfire_dual_channel

so are they 4-4-4-12 or 4-4-4-15 ?

I checked 2 more websites, 1 said 4-4-4-12 and the other 4-4-4-15 so its a bit unclear.

I would think they are 4-4-4-12 though.

talk about confusing!

I think I won't bother with them, from reading more on OCZ's website they are optomised for ATI chipset, not specifically crossfire, seings as I will be getting an intel 975x chipset although crossfire, it's not an ATI chipset.

well OCZ put the things together, so i gotta guess there right, but maybe they operate just fine at 4-4-4-12 as well

The TRAS makes such a small difference I don't think it would matter which you put it on, either for performance or stability.

Yes but lower timing usually means higher price. Also it is false advertising, which means bad news, provided the OCZ site is correct.

ive been wondering this aswell, all the reviews online say 4-4-4-12 but if you look at the pics they have taken the sticker on the ram says 4-4-4-15

so the ram IS 4-4-4-15

but cam sombody answer me what the difference is between 4-4-4-12 and 4-4-4-15 as i have no idea

about .1 nanoseconds on latency tests (against a score of about 45-55ns) and about 10MB/s difference in average read speeds... as the RAM read speeds will be to the order of 8000+MB/s its not even gonna be noticeable.

I always wonder what that actually MEANS.... apart from a quick spray-job on the heatspreaders!

Anyone?

Any idea of the performance boost over "standard" ram at the same spec?

In a Shuttles SN27P2 (that provides a maximum of 2.0 volts) I've got some:
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2 (OCZ2P800R22GK)

On the modules its got a sticker with 4-4-4-15 that also matches OCZ website details.

Using Memtest 86+ I got errors on test 7. Changed settings to 4-4-4-12 and did a complete pass, but only ran for one and a bit cycles. So will run for longer when don't need PC and see if thenew settings are more suitable.
