Hi All,

Recently reset optimal settings in bios and it's removed my overclock that OCuk created for me when I purchased my bundle (obviously..)

Don't feel too confident in doing myself (although I can), just don't want to make a mistake.

The bundle i purchased from OCuk was a biostar T-Power x58 board, 6 gigs DDR3 ocz ram and a core i7 920.

Wondering if OCuk could help me with restoring the overclock?! Are bios' backed up by OCuk when an overclock is completed so i could restore it or am I stuck with changing the settings on my own?. - It was overclocked to 3.6ghz.

*OVERCLOCKED* Intel Core i7 920 2.66Ghz (Nehalem) @ 3.6Ghz / Biostar T-Power X58/ 6GB OCZ Reaper PC 1500 (1866Mhz) DDR3 Triple Channel DDR3 Bundle

Cheers

On my board they have stored a profile on the BIOS called OCUK
I had to press F12 and then pick the profile to load, maybe your board has something similar. If not, post in the technical questions forum and they will get back to you

I've sent over a webnote, thank you guys.

Perhaps they may save a profile, but if my cmos has been reset, and then re-loaded optimal defaults surely it would then be gone? :(

Hope they can hope, I don't trust my overclocking still at all.

Interesting JimboJet :)

I've called OCuk and they've suggested trying to restore my profile using F12 in the bios, which may apprently still be there regardless of the fact i'd reset the CMOS and applied optimal defaults.

If the profile aint there i'll have to ask them to send me the profile i can restore.

4ghz would be sweet though =)

Hi guys,

Just found three saved OcUK profiles in my BIOS. Loaded one and it failed, rebooted back to stock. Loaded another and my machine booted with its 3.6 ghz overclock :D

Problem is that it now idles around 45-50 degrees c and within 20 seconds of prime95 goes to 90+ degrees, stopped it scared :(

Is this correct for a overclocked bundle my cooking is a antec 1200 with all fans on high (cooler i received with my bundle, akasa nero ak 967). ?

Bit concerned.

Oh - my stock temps idle were 27-35 degrees idle, 60 degrees max load.

Thanks

Have a check of the cpu cooler to see it is secured properly, also download HW Monitor and check fan speed on the cpu.

The speed seems to be correct for the profile.

It certainly seems in place okay, i recently re-fitted it and re-applied thermal paste (sunday, acctually) in the way that is suggested by the arctic silver site. (AS5)

HW Monitor Looks like this (no overclock idle)

Is there somethign wrong.. :(

Idle temps look ok, run Prime and see what the temps go upto and keep a eye on the fan speeds.

RJC mate thank you very much for your help so far.

Ok this is what happened and is a summary of what i have done so far:

IDLE WITH NO OVERCLOCK:

LOAD WITH NO OVERCLOCK:

IDLE WITH OcUK profile selected:

LOAD WITH OcUK profile selected:

Note: the overclocked load profile picture was taken 15 seconds into the load, the first time I attempted it my machine had a BSOD. :( I'd of thought my antec 1200 could at least handle a i7 at 3.6 ghz.. especially with the cooler provided by OcUK for the overclock. Load with overclock can hit over 90 degrees..

CPUz is a program that you can see what clock speed you're at and other stuff...google it and install it if you haven't already

CPUz reports my clock speed at 3600.0 Mhz and doesnt change idle or under load (load increases it about 0.1Mhz per second or so..)

The C0 stepping 920 chips will generally run a bit warmer than the D0 (due to usually needing more vcore), having said that 90 degrees is a touch too high for my liking.

The heatsink you're using is a push pin variant if I'm not mistaken, I would suggest making sure you're correctly installed it, as it shouldn't really be getting that warm with the vcore you're using.

check other things like case fans. i was getting way high temps with my ocuk bundle 4.0 o/c until support noticed that i had no intake fan in the case.... bought one and bam temps way down by about 15C! check all that stuff too.

It's an antec 1200 case i think the heat has 3 intake fans on the front and 2 exhaust on the back, with a massive fan on top for exhaust too.

Been baflfing me, im wondering a bit about my cooler being in correctly but it feels very firm, and ive re-seated it about 4 times and this is the best temp ive had..

Tempted to just leave it stock and forget about my overclock :<

Okay, I can confirm that the heatsink is defo in place correctly. Just had the board out of the case with the heatsink attached, all of the push pins for the heatsink are showing underneath the board correctly and it's snug in place.

Why on earth do i get these temps!
