After having my first overclocked bundle RMA'd (the mobo failed) it was replaced with a newer mobo and the core i7 930, overclocked to 4Ghz.

Problem is this is not stable. It will boot into Windows fine, but then after a while applications lock up, then slowly every locks up. Reboot a few times, same problem. Then the mobo reports that problems have occured due to overclocking etc and resets to stock speed. Cooling is not an issue here and my power supply is fine. At stock speed the machine is perfect and very nippy.

I have paid a bit more for the overclocking and it simply doesnt work. Its great that it boots to windows at the overclocked speed, but I doubt they do any longer term stability testing.

Do Overclockers include this in the warranty as the components are not faulty, it is a config issue?

best bet is to drop them a webnote and explain whats going on, would think that if they advertise it as an overclocked bundle it should function properly at the speed given.

this is where you need to post to get assistance :)

They do claim to test them pretty extensively.....
our overclcoked bundles undergo extensive testing. at least 8 hours of stress are applied to each bundle. if you had a repaired bundle it will have endured a 12 hour test of OCCT or Prime95

was thinking of getting one of the OC'd bundle, but reading this i'm having second thoughts

there is no need to have second thoughts, our overclocked bundle rage has one of the lowest return rate levels of any item we sell.
this is because the support is there.

if the bundle you have is going wrong. post in customer support and we will be glad to help :)

re:

I got the EX58-UD5 i7 920 bundle and never have been able to achieve prime95 stable :(

I got issued with a F10 profile which works in normal use but not stable on prime and the GFLOPS on intelburn are not stable:(

I did not send it back as it was stable in normal use and I didnt want the headache of sending it back.

Cheers

this is disappointing for me also i was gonna get ready to get a overclocked bundle also but reading some of thses comments i think i might have to change my mind about it now. i want a hassle free pc not something im gonna have to send back time after time..:(

I think that if you are wanting an overclocked PC, you should do it yourself. Apart from the learning exercise you gain on overclocking, you will then know everything about what is happening in your bios and other components.
The downside for many is the research involved, matching components, buying the best you can and reading on methods, successes and pitfalls.
You could use the bundle as a starting point and buy the components unclocked if you do not want to match them yourself.
You then have the normal manufacturers parts warranties and also the assistance of experts on this board and others to get you going.

My 2p worth, andy.

My bundle from OCUK gets to mid to late 60s degrees in games and is stable but if I run prime it goes to 95 degrees after a few minutes and I get scared and stop it LOL

there is no need to be alarmed at all.

while there can be some problems with overclocked items the main problems we have are down to user error [incorrect installation and the like]

as i mentioned before

the OcUK overclocked bundle range has a very very low return rate. the majority of the returns are sent back to the customer with no fault found.

the only general problems we have with instability are usually solved in the customer support forums by providing customers with a few more bios tweaks if they have differences in hardware.

im closing the thread as the OP has been pointed towards the support forums.
