Congratulations Willis!
Please forward the new theme to me by email. (hotmail address in trust)

Great shot Willis, congratulations. And thanks to the judges for taking the time to judge throughout the year.

oops comments up.

BigT-
Simple and effective. I might have chosen to give a touch more contrast, but I like it.

Nicely framed image with a lovely tonal range. Well done.

Really nice atmosphere and great tones across the image, could do with a little more contrast.

chet84
Lovely shot. Like the lights in the eyes. Might have chosen to add a very subtle vignette to really draw attention to the centre of the image.

Positioned on a diagonal the composition works well, although I'm not convinced with the B&W conversion.

The focus and the lighting on the eyes works really well and the B&W is ok but I feel a coloured image would have more interest with subtle skin tones.

cokecan72
The image doesn't really work for me. I feel the people should be the focus of the shot, but the building completely steals the show.

Lots of negative space drawing the eye to the building which is not very interesting unfortunately.

Not sure on the overall focus point here but there are too many elements colliding in the one image.

Devrij
Well, it's a nice family shot, but it's neither technically or artistically interesting.

Closer, closer, closer. This image is about family so we need much less of the wall to give it warmth and capture the celebrations.

Lovely family snap, but little more than that.

englishpremier
That's pretty headache-inducing! The leaves and the trees really blend here and make it very difficult to get anything from the image. Not a particular fan of the faded border, either.

Firstly why is the black border not even? A little distracting, but otherwise there is potential for a nice image, however the B&W conversion feels over sharpened

Wow you can’t see the wood for the trees with this one! And the border is not working with the different sizes.

Gaffer
Really strikes me as more of a snapshot than anything else. Aside from that it's nicely processed.

A nice candid shot that just about nails it, were there only just a tad more space on the right. Bright and crisp which is very nice.

Nice composition and processing a great candid portrait.

GSXRMovistar
Like the shot. The show is obviously shopped, but its fun and I don’t think I could do any better.

Brilliant shot which does a great job putting together Photoshop and in camera mastery.

Really nice shot great lighting and composition, I’m not convinced the photoshopped snow adds much but it’s not over powering the image at least.

James J
Nice sharp shot, but the subject is very central - I might have chosen to crop from one corner to make a slightly more interesting composition.

The DOF works well to isolate the grey squirrel, rendering the background into lovely bokeh.

It’s just a squirrel, but the DOF is really nice and the sharpness is spot on.

JRJ
Fun image, though I can't say I like the shadowed border. Nicely composed.

A good idea and well shot image. The DoF really works as a colourful background.

Really like this a great idea well captured, just lose the border entirely it’s not needed.

Mr Jones
Fun image, but it's not going to win any artistic prizes. DoF is perhaps just a touch thin and gives the overall image a pretty soft look.

A light-hearted look at what can bring joy to Mr Jones, how could I fault this shot.

A fun shot but for me it is more a facebook snap.

Red.5ive.Oh
I like IR images in general, but this doesn’t really do that much for me. The movement in the trees makes quite a bit of haloing, which spoils the impact for me.

A very dark and strange image with the halo from the HDR working in your favour here. It adds a mysterious feel to the image which I'm not sure I like, yet don't dislike.

Unfortunately this does not work for me, the haloing overwhelms the whole image.

The Abyss
Well that's different! Nice idea, but I'm not sure I'd want it on my wall.

Many a memory of Christmas past here. Lots of vibrant colour with bubbles adding interest. The light reflection, bottom right, is distracting and draws the eye.

An interesting look at the humble sprout, it’s ok as an image but not overly interesting or inspiring.

TheAlex
I might have added just a touch more contrast to the subject, but that's probably a personal thing. Not a big fan of the blending at the bottom, but overall I like it - very ethereal.

Hole in my head url makes me think there are dark things at work here. Despite that, and overlooking the awful frame there is a good natural light portrait. Nicely done

Great image the lighting is spot on and the change in levels from top to bottom is working really well great work.

Wedge
Good B&W conversion. Might have chosen to crop away some of the dead space.

A great candid of father and child. Blowing the highlights here has worked and the white space is balanced by the check shirt.

The only minus the amount of wasted space in the image.

Willis
Like the wide perspective. The processing and composition also work well. Effective image.

From shoot to post and final image you constantly display a high standard throughout. Looking more like a still from an arthouse film it's always a highlight to see one of your images. Great shot.

Another great shot your work is always spot on keep it up.

Thanks for the comments. Was trying to go for a IR look. lol

Unsure about the border comments though re it's evenness. The left and right sides of a border are always larger than the top and bottom and in every photo I've ever seen.

That's how both Gimp, and Darktable (create their borders)
