Congratulations Steeps!

At the same time, this is both a bit underexposed and partially blown. The blown highlights have some nasty fringing on them, but the darkness stops the droplet from standing out. My main feeling is that it could just have benefitted from a touch of love in post.

A simple and accomplished droplet shot. What was that line in the movie I just saw; something along the lines of if my life amounts to no more than one drop in a limitless ocean. Yet what is any ocean, but a multitude of drops? I could ask what one movie is doing with 6 stories in it as well! Well done, which is more that I can say for that movie which seemed to have lost its sense of direction altogether. Have some points for not be associated with Tom Hanks or Cloud Atlas.

All this really needs is some post processing to make the droplet really stand out from the scene.

Englishpremier
Quite a serious side to this from a photojournalism point, and whilst I like the composition for the bike sign, the underlying message would better have been served with a wider viewpoint. Good concept, though and relevance to the theme.

Ohhh lots of double meaning in this shot, great stuff. Circle of life & death, circles in the sign and the wheels on the bike go round and round. Did you know that the circle was thought to be divine and perfect in early human life, like when you see a beautiful girl across the street waving at you and you wave back, only to find she is flagging down a taxi and you now are waving at random people in the street. Yes, like that, Circles are mean things and should be avoided. Have some points and take your circle lovin somewhere else.

A serious undertone to this picture and many circles for the theme, but it lacks any real interest maybe we need to see more of the scene.

Gaffer
Nice shot, Gaffer. Like the composition and position of the sun - intentional or otherwise.

That is one amazing kite. When I was a boy it was plain paper on a hanger and string but that is just awesome. You get points just for entering an awesome kite. Yes there is also a circle so on theme as well. Clever chap

Reasonably on theme with a circle, but a beautiful shot captured at just the right moment.

JRJ
Well that’s a different use of shotgun cartridges! Very pretty :p

12 & twelve, 12 ... Hmm, twelve gauge as in shotgun ammunition! GULP... now I'm not going to be a big bore, talk about composition or colour, instead I'll just say I love this shot and slowly back away.

Fantastic shot for the theme a great idea well executed, my only criticism is the spacing between the cartridges is not consistent it is a picky thing but for such a good image we have to be harshy!

ManCuBus
Simple and effective. Like the selective colouring for this and the DoF works well.

The more I look at this the more it looks like a robot is looking back at me, the tail lights for eyes and the blinker is a sidways mouth. There could be a very real possibility you have captured a transformer in disquise, in which case I have to award you more points for not only being on theme but also for great scientific value.

I feel that the theme is secondary to the car, but the image is technically nice with a nice DoF.

orbspeed1
It's a fun photo, but it’s a shame you've clipped the edges of the sphere! Very vibrant, though.

This is freaking me out, really freaking me out. This us a shot of what can only be none other than the fossilised remains of a Triffid from 1951. I thought that book was a work of fiction but here is proof that Triffids did indeed roam the planet! Holy cow we're lucky to be alive, you better have some points for the competition and remember to keep using your eyes to take photos in future.

The only criticism is that the whole flower is not within the frame.

Red.5ive.Oh
Nice take on the theme! It's an effective photo in its own right, so the relevance to the theme is a bonus on top. Good stuff.

What happened here? The colour is gone and the shadows & rocks are all going in different directions. Are you hinting at the fact the Moon landing may have been fake? Are YOU! Do you know that between 6% & 20% of all Americans belive that the Moon landings were faked? Also 25% of all statistics may have been made up which means you get some points for the competition. Run along now.

Would make a great picture to go on any wall, and with relevance to the theme it gets points.

Steeps
Well designed and taken. Quirky colouring and lighting really adds some interest. Like it.

Hmmm, polo's are tasty. Just like a treat and a sweet rolled into one. Talking about treats, did you know that Marco Polo was away for 24 years when he went on his travels! That is taking a GAP year the the extreme really and to make it worse, just like today his debts mounted up so much that on his return he was put in jail for 6 years! Let that be a lesson to us all that study and fun are not good bed fellows. Have some points as a way to pass the time, now go forth and adventure!

Great idea well taken and of course hugely relevant to theme there could not be anymore circles! – Shame about the border.

Truth is, I came to the end of the month and grabbed the the only image I had taken that has a circle in it. It isn't a stable flier, so I nearly went blind trying to get the sun behind it, so yes, it was deliberate... I take a lot of kite pictures, so I knew what I was after.

But no mistake, Cracking shot by Steeps.

Thanks for the feedback (my first go at droplet shots, but I've done some better ones since then). Well done Steeps!

Many thanks to the judges and all the entrants of the competition over the years, there have been some fantastic shots from many people and I do feel guilty for not entering much recently. Feels good to be ending on a high score, I remember the old competition site had a graph that tracked your scores over a season and mine always seemed to be declining. Hopefully one day the competition will start again :)

Steeps; well done cracking idea.

Judges; Thanks for your time, effort and hard work in making the competition work.
