as for getting a warning for posting a 1028 pic of dayz are you having a laugh talk about petty

Tell me about it i've had countless pics removed just because it was slightly over that yet we have a HIGH QUALITY SCREENSHOT thread with massive ones. Anyone would think we are on 14" monitors still
Your pic was perfectly fine fella

Some of us are on 3" screens these days ;)
This rule has been discussed several times recently and if we were just considering home PC's then yes it would have been increased - but with the growth of portable devices the decision has been made to keep it as it is.

Jokester please allow larger screenshots in threads created by that member, for example if i create an indie thread i should be allowed to have some pictures over 1024!. I can understand the rule in threads such as BF3 though

Inline images can be disable in the CP if people don't want to see them.
I don't see why a forum full of people mostly using 22-24" screens should be limited to 1024px just because some people also browse this section on mobile phones.
Surely at least the PC Games and Photography section can be exempt from this rule, it's where you expect to see high resolution images?
Phone uses should either not visit this section, disable images in CP, or just simple scroll like we used to 10 years ago when screens were small.
Not a diction, just my 2p. :p

I feel that pc gaming/consoles and photography could do with larger images, 1024X is a very small image size to show off photography and gaming images. Perhaps an increase to 1280x in the rule as many of us have 24"+ monitor sizes. If the rule is because of hand held devices that's a little unfair as these Games and photography are best viewed in larger sizes, you can also turn off images in CP.

No arguments please, could we have a poll vote!

No leave the image size as is
Yes we need a bigger image size rule

Please don't close the thread, thanks

IMO leave as is with it allowed in high res threads in gaming and photography - theres a big rise in people browsing these forums from their mobile phones and its far more friendly to that with the current rules - if you want to include a high resolution image then you can make the smaller image a link to it.

Only a few threads are allowed to ignore this rule e.g. the High Res Screenshot thread (I don't personally feel there should be many threads allowed to ignore the rule).

For me, viewing these forums on an iPad is restricted by people posting images that break the rules.

Also, those are the rules that we all live by here (most people follow them just fine). Unfortunately a number of people have chosen to ignore them on multiple occasions.

I wouldn't say ignore as that's unfair, sometimes people just forget :)

Everywhere has a rule but sometimes rules can be changed, especially if the rule doesn't apply to todays situations.

CaptainRAVE - What about large images allowed ONLY in spoiler tags?, that would be a great rule

It's not just about displaying it on screen, not everyone has a fantastic connection and having limited image sizes allows those who are either using mobile dongles or on a really slow line to still enjoy the forums without issues.

Most photographers aren't going to want to post images much bigger than 800px wide anyway, makes it harder for people to steal images.

Larger images in spoiler tags are currently ok.

I tend to post mine at 800x600 (I use a 22" screen)

True ...

Are you allowed to use spoiler tags to post a huge image, if it is relevant to the tread, and warn tiny screeners before they click it?

That would seem a sensible compromise

Disable them in your CP then, or avoid the PC Games section where people will be posting images of PC games if you're worried about bandwidth.

Well that's something at least.

Great

Could this be added to the rules then?

Anything over 1024x must be in spoiler tags, so if a member doesn't do this perhaps a mod can put it in spoiler tags on a first time basis. Don't expect mods to do this all the time ;)

Leave it as it is. We all have huge monitors now yes. But I doubt most browse these forums full screen on their 27" monitors. I for one have it to one side while I watch tv. Big images will spoil the browsing experience for most.

But how many threads have massive pictures?, if it's a one off i don't think members should be castrated for it.

The spoiler tag rule for large images so far is looking the best way forward i feel

Does iOS not automatically adjust images to suit?

That seems a bit ****, Android will just scale large images to suit, works brilliantly.

I wondered why people moaned about big images viewed on mobile devices, no wonder if Apple devices handle them so appallingly.
