I have £1000 to spend on a base unit (ex Monitor/Keyboard ect).

Looking at the prebuilt systems there are some nice deals, but im wondering what OcUK's warrenty policy is? Do they have any? Apart from the standard distance selling policy, ive seen some systems mention a 1 year RTB warrenty in their description but others do not. Does this 1 year warrenty apply to all systems or are the ones without it noted excluded?

Finally, anyone have any recommendations? :) OCUK staff themselves perhaps, as i said im looking for a new base unit for £1000. Basically the system has to be powerful, but not sound like a hurricane.

Thanks

Build your own, l,m 53yrs old all I did was read up on it. Just built my 3rd pc started 1st time, theirs nothing like job satisfaction. Over clocked it to Q6600 @ 3.3GHz, theirs plenty people on the forum to help you choose the parts, and give advice.

I second what OLDPHART has said. Build your own. I am considerably older than OLDPHART and have built and repaired many hundreds of PCs since 1990. Just take it one easy step at a time.

Wow! I didn't realise there were so many "old people" on these forums, most of the old people I know can't even turn on a computer...

Read the product description, that's what it's there for :p

I did, thats what i said. Some say 1 Year, others do not. I want to know if its just an oversight, as it does not make a whole lot of sense that OcUK would sell their pre-built systems and give some warrentys and others none. DELL dont sell some of their systems with 1 year warrenty and others with a standard 30 day "AFTER THAT YOUR SOL" policy. XD

I have a system i built myself now, but i dont want to build my own, i want something ready to go, and something with a warrenty. :) Anyawy im looking at the Ultima Accelerator 4850, I just wish it had the 4870 instead of the 4850 XD. I will probably give OcUK a ring to check out my question about the warrenties.

All our systems come with 1 years RTB, I would build your own system to be honest, the systems for sale are for peace of mine for some people.

Ah thats good to know, and interesting, shouldn't you be trying to get me to spend more money not less? :D (im joking btw).

I will look into that, but im really not looking for all the hassle associated with building my own. I'm notoriously unlucky and end up with at least 1 part that isnt working, or is broken, or has something missing XD and there is nothing worse than putting a system together to find the motherboard is buggered. Especially when your using the retail heatsink + fan.... since u just used the pad and have to take it off... which means removing the old pad and adding a new one.. so then u have that job to do as well, and all the waiting for parts inbetween.

Had to remove the competitors, just check the forum rules. :)

We have a lot of very nice performance systems, but as said nothing beats the thrill of building one yourself.

If you fancy a chat feel free to add me to MSN ([email protected]) and I am more than happy to go through either our full systems or components options if you are unsure at what you should be looking at.

Nothing on the telebox later to interest me, best to get you to spend your money where its best suited to you. No point in you buying anything you wont be happy with in 3 months. :D

Well, Yewen. Suppose i saw a system that i wanted on OcUK but i wanted to change the Graphics card. Would OcUK do that or would i have to buy it with the graphics card, and then buy the one i wanted and then i guess sell the one i dont. Or can OcUK switch stuff like that out before they build it?

Providing it works perfectly fine in the system then its usually ok to make small changes to them. :)

Would have to speak with one of the sales guys over the phone to see if it would be possible or not though.

Ok sounds good, actually you just got a new "This Week Only" that looks pretty spot on. The *only* thing that saddens me is no Blu-Ray (like on the 4850) but thats an easy enough thing for me to fix later should i need it.

^_^

EDIT: Though the overclock is pretty awsome, I assume OcUK do test it to make sure it is fully stable in every respect?

Anyway, OcUK can expect some of my money this week. =)

Overclocks are pre-tested before we advertise the systems so we know what they can do.

Then once they overclock the systems in our technical department they blast the systems as much as possible to see if they can take it, once they have passed this test they can ship from us. If they fail or provide poor results the system gets given back to an engineer who then resolves the problem and then it gets tested again.

Have a very very high sucess rate on the overclocks, would not be worth our time to advertise speeds that we are not 100% confident of as it wastes engineers time and also the trouble of repairs and collections. That obviously does nobody any favours!

Those new systems on this week only are superb, designed to be quite upgradable too, they are a development of our release day 4850 and 4870 systems, learnt a fair bit in a week about these cards. :)

If you want to talk through your order feel free to phone up and ask to speak to Tom and I will be more than happy to go through any bits and bobs or questions you may have.

Thanks for the offer, I might just do that. :)

This is what im looking at buying...

Just need a WiFi dongle so i can access the internet. If i buy without the OS do i get CD's and stuff with any drivers that the system may need?

Anyway, hopefully should let me enjoy Crisis finally. XD

EDIT: Must admit im a little torn between the Ultima 4850 and the Ultimate OC HD 4870. Both look awsome value.
