Hey,

Just wondering what, if any, advantage is gained via purchasing a 4GB kit as opposed 2x 2GB kits.

GeiL 800Mhz 2x1GB is about £30 atm

However, a 4GB kit is £80 give or take....

It seems obvious that buying two sets of 2GB GeiL RAM would be better, but it seems almost too simple.... am i missing something ? or is the UK consumer IQ that ridiculously challenged ?

Buying a 4gb kit rather than two 2gb kits allows you to still upgrade your Ram in future to 8gb (or further depending on future capacities) without throwing away/selling off your existing Ram. Although Core2Duos don't have issues with four sticks of Ram in the same way that A64s do you are still relying on more components to keep functioning correctly and even if they do to keep functioning to the same degree if overclocking.

It is also slightly neater and uses less power although this final point is exceedingly marginal.
