OcUK RX6500XT review thread

Well for all the hate of this card, it is now our best selling GPU and by some margin. Good job really considering how many I bought in. :D

You violated a basic ethics rule of the society. I supported a claim and you personally attacked me without any reason.
Deserves a ban..
Interesting.

I suppose you would be ok with being banned for low IQ?

Please explain your reasoning here, it makes no sense in context to what I wrote.
In fact it seems you are getting a hard on just complaining about the card when you are missing the entire point people are making that understand how this card fits a niche.

Everyone knows that lowering the settings gains performance..

The card is terrible.
Because its intended target is gamers on a budget who will highly unlikely run it on PCIe 4.0 boards.
Which means it will run on PCIe 2.0 x4 and PCIe 3.0 x4 boards.
And then the performance tanks deeply..

Are you a troll?

4K, mate i can't run anything in 4K.

Good, common sense prevails, the card is far from ideal at £200 but its a product of our time.

Telling people to buy 4+ year old cards for more money because you can go a setting higher on the image quality is the most insane augment i have seem in more than 20 years of insane arguments in this sector.

That's just spite to punish a GPU vendor for something they have no control over.

It's the best selling card because there is literally nothing else available in volume that can run 1080p modern games that doesn't cost a fortune.

This will remain the case until nVIDIA or Intel produce low to mid range cards in reasonable volume.

It's still a dreadful card with far too many compromises.

To those showing 4k benchmarks, that's utterly pointless though. It's about as relevant as Nürburgring lap times are to a typical buyer of the lowest power version of a fuel efficient family car.

Reported for trolling.

The moderators should ban this aggressive, unpolite and offensive member!

So avoid what I asked and just pretend to be affected, narcissism at it's finest.
I used the same context and rebuttal... appeal to power when there is no logic or argument to be had.

If English is limited to feeling then the dictionary would not exist or need to.
Sorry you can't understand words that have meanings and only get in your feels instead.

Yes I am sure the mods will help you out, I would point to learning but It is easier to be stubborn.

As long as it fits your narrative!

There are more ultra low end cards coming

AsRock just registered several new GPUs models at the EEC, including AMD RX6400 GPUs and AMD RX560 GPUs (yea baby, GCN is back from the grave!)

I'd wager you could clear your whole warehouse in record time if you put all GPU's at MSRP :D

6500XT is atleast something to keep your system going until you can get something better. I'm interested to see what they go for on the second hand market when everything is back to normal.

Humbug, aren't you doing what you're supposedly against? You've highlighted the 1660 Super. Also medium versus high settings could impact the PCIe 3 results.

I know you've a major beef about HUB but c'mon.....

I remember MLID say the 6500XT would be a cherry pickers dream, seems he was right. You can either make it look good or really really bad in the same game depending on how you benchmark it.

If we have learned anything at all its who like to frame messaging and how.

yes my mistake i was meant to highlight the 1650 Super.

You say that as if this isn't a part of the point i'm making? You're not making any sense. What do you think i'm saying here?

How many people here actually own a 6500xt and have tried it out on pcie gen 3 and gen 4 for themselves? I have, and its now sitting in me daughter's sff pc doing what it says on the tin, playing games, etc. Also, how many reviewers tested this card at "reasonable" in game settings, (medium as opposed to ultra f'rinstance)?
I ask these questions as people here are basing their opinions on what they've seen and read in online reviews which, to a man, appears to hold so much hate towards this card, the reviews would seem to be carried out with a biased perspective from the outset. My take on this whole scenario is that this card did not live up to "enthusiast's expectations" and compared it to what went before wrt the progression of gpu technology from 2-3 years ago, unfortunately, that was then, this now (high prices, insane demand, lack of materials for manufacture, scalpers, mining, you name it, it all has an effect). Its a card of it's time imo, a castrated item, its the boiled cauliflower of the gpu world, etc, when compared to other cards, but it is what it is, and its another option against buying used (which I personally have nothing against btw) and its new with a warranty, etc.

Right, flame away boys.

It is year 2022. This card doesn't offer anything above the thing that it should replace - RX 5500 XT. It is a side grade or even a down grade, and no technological and performance progress offered by AMD.

You can, of course, justify your purchase as much as you wish, that won't change the fact that the card is a no-go and a turd..

Buy an RTX 3050, only £400.

How much does it cost to manufacture a light weight single fan card (which is enough for a small die) compared to a bulky heatsink with a tripple fan ? Again, AIB's are just taking the ****. I'm stunned how they have gotten away with this, no one is talking about it.. am I wrong ?

Given the shortage of manufacturing capacity, component costs, the increase of shipping costs..... there is no doubt in my mind it costs more now to make a GPU than it did in 2018, a lot more.

We should expect some of that to be baked in to pricing, reacting the way a lot of tech journalists have to the 6500XT will not suddenly make it $150, if anything it just puts the future of $200 GPU's in peril, there is another way to deal with AMD other than going at them like a deranged lunatic and then tell people to buy the Nvidia card at twice the price and pat themselves on the back for it. Clowns!

The other thing is fake MSRP's, $250 for the 3050 sounds positively reasonable, tech journalist believe it, because they are idiots, 3 days later they are all gone, where? directly to crypto miners at double the MSRP, tech journalists clap and cheer like demented seals.

6500XT available right now right here for £199

This is my point, people's "expectations", yes, its a side grade, yes its 2022, yes, you can buy used, and so on ad nauseum. Who says the gpu HAVE to give you an upgrade with every release? everyone is comparing new stuff to the old stuff and because the natural progression of things generally is to improve, make faster, make cheaper, thats now accepted as the norm. Not anymore until the supply outstrips demand and things return to normal.

And I don't have to justify my purchase to you or anyone else, thank you very much. I only bought because I could, I had a definite requirement for one, and I was curious to make up my own mind, not being dictated to by the status quo (aka tech reviewers, etc)
