OcUK RX6900XT review thread

so are the day one engine/drivers/api optimisations needed or not? its just DX

No, not needed, unless to address a bug. In the past I would update drivers once every 6 month or so. Something like this though, new card, new tech, massive title, I will be updating the drivers.

So new hardware and new games requires optimisations then even though it's just DX?

It's interesting you think that but also think DXR just works out of the box even though it's new tech and new hardware.

Require? No. But you can sqeeze an extra fps here or there. That's part of what drivers do. Will Cyberpunk 2077 run without the game ready driver? Yes of course it will. I believe Twitch streamers were playing it before the game ready driver was released.

I just don't get it. The 3080 is blow for blow the same as the 6800xt. The 6800xt being cheaper should be the one to buy. No?

In the jayztwocents review he said the gpu would only use 250w. Did all the other reviews have this problem aswell? If they had changed to the 300w it is suppose to use like jayztwocents did it would have been better wouldnt it? I'm sure jayz charts all used the 250w instead of the 300w because "they use out of the box settings for fairness" even though its obvious that is a bug.
That is very odd. Will need to see AIB reviews with their own bios to make some sense of it.

I always wonder if Nvidia paid someone to write this type of comments actually.
They actually had paid people to write on various forums and reddit in the past.
Nothing of what I said is untrue. I mean it is common knowledge that nvidia cards just work, AMD cannot provide this hassle free experience. For example I never had an issue with Nvidia cards, with AMD on the other hand...I had a lot to say the least!
Also there is the other thing that not many people take into account, is that nvidia has stronger performance in less popular titles compared to equivalent AMD card.

AMD have to sell their cards at X/1.5 the price of an equivalent nvidia card in order for me to get one or recommande one, I mean AMD GPU's are just not worth it, that's just the way it is.

Yea and it will be recommended by everyone lmao...

5% faster than 6900xt in raster and 50-200% faster in RT and DLSS. 100 quid well spent I'd say (in comparison to the 6900xt that is)

Of course that's assuming rum ours are true and the 3080ti is just a 3090 with slower memory and lower power limit
