So, for someone who has B450 mobo and a Ryzen 5 2600...is the 3300X worth getting? Once the BIOS becomes available for something like the B450M ASRock Steel Legend.

I am in the same situation as you,I would probably just wait until Zen3 is released,and get a cheap Ryzen 7 3700X.

That's not a bad idea. No doubt when Zen 3 is released, many will sell their 7 3700X to fund it.

Well if you are on a B450 motherboard,you don't have much of a choice now!!

Lots of games are lightly threaded and are latency dependent,and the Ryzen 3 3300X looks ideal for this,and if you wait for a B550 motherboard at least you can drop in a better Zen3 CPU,as AMD has stated it will work in it(so they can't get away with what they they did with the B450).

If you refer to the WCCFTECH article, that could be true for the B350 and B450 boards without large bios. Cases like B450 Tomahawk/Carbon MAX having big bios, might not been an issue. The article states that AMD officially will only support 550 & 570 however if motherboard manufacturers can install the new Zen 3 bios to their existing boards, they will work also.

Is on the small prints at the end of the article And WCCFTech run a similar story last year, that B450/350 X470/370 boards won't support Zen 2 because a guy who said was working for MSI said so.......

I hope you are right. HUB said AMD actually unofficially added back B350 support for Zen2,but are refusing to do so now!

Ryzen 3 3300X does not beat a Ryzen 5 2600 or Ryzen 5 1600AF in all games. DF and Gamersnexus showed they could have better frametime consistency and better minimum FPS in some games,so its not all cut and paste!

I would say wait until the B550 arrives though for anyone who wants this CPU. For me,the B450 motherboards are severely devalued with the B550 arriving next month,and if someone is fine with the B450,I would expect deals on them with the A520 and B550 being released.

The Ryzen 3 3300X when tuned does very well in WoW.
