OcUK Ryzen APU review thread

Switched my HTPC from an N54L (dual core @ 2.2GHz :cool:) to a 2400G last night. Quite impressed for my first mITX rig, haven't gamed or overclocked yet but looking forward to playing older titles @ 1080 :).

There are some absolute neccesities when setting up for these APUs, first as pointed out above win 1709 version is a must...........not an old CD updated. that will just give problem after problem...........Drivers............
The first driver to install is ALWAYS the latest chipset drivers, from AMD not from any motherboard manufacturer or other source ONLY AMD
Then, from same site (AMD) the Radeon graphics drivers..and note: these driver installs MUST be in this order. Why? because if you install the graphic drivers first, when you install the chipset drivers, you will overwrite the correct APU drivers with older non-APU drivers......and problems. Please do not try any other drivers, just those above in the order given.

I was on the verge of sending my 2200G and strix B350 back because of black screen crash that could happen at any time, thankfully I figured out it was ai suite messing with HWinfo64 and crashing the pc when accessing some monitoring chip. With that gone the system is rock stable at 3.9Ghz, GPU is not the best clocker with just 1280 Mhz. Still I'm blown away with the performance it gives particularly in older titles.

Do you think they are a good enough to go from an Xbox1? Ive been promising my little en id build him a rig, but with RAM & GPU prices so high, the APU's are probably my best bet.

Depends what you playing really - PUBG for example would be better on XBox everyday of the week
