How good it OcUK Silentmaxx Aluminium Hard Drive Enclosure.

Are they worth the money you pay for them. Do hardrives get very hot insdie these.

Im wanting to put 200gb spinpoints in them.

Really wait 24 hours to bump. Heat isn't too much of an issue as the aluminium block acts as a passive heatsink. Quietens 'em down a treat though.

:edit: DUHHHHH different guy bumping. Obviously I had one too m any last night.

I've got one for my Raptor 74GB.. keeps it a good temp (can't post the actual temp as pc is in bits :p) and quietens it down too.

For me it made my Raptor much much quieter. Temps went up 3-4 degrees tho but thats prob due to the poor airflow around the 5.25" bay area of my case.

It was worth it for me cause the Raptor was so loud. If the Spinpoints are as quiet as i've read then i prob wouldn't bother.

Mine doesn't get any hotter than 30oc if i leave it on 24/7 so heat isn't an issue. It does really quiet it down if u put some rubber feet on it and place on the bottom of the case, i tried this and the seek noise was gone almost completely :) . In the drive bay its still audible but not as bad as without the enclosure, maybe trying the elastic method would be a cheaper way to silence it.

I have four all bunged together in 4 CDROM drive bays. Theyre only cooling 400GB 7200rpm Seagates, so not as hot as the raptors, but theyre excellent. Two fans in them, pushing and pulling config, theyre worth the money :).

Thanks for the replys guys.

Does it vibrate at all in the drive bays.

I know spinpoints are very quiet but not silent and doing this will make it silent.

Was there a question in there? Of course it'll vibrate a bit, but it's on rubber mounts to not as much. I recommend a google around?
