Hey guys.

Ive been looking at the OCUK website, and would like to make something with a similar template for a project I have going.

I was wondering if you could tell me how OCUK was built, and if it uses a CMS.

any information on the site would be a great help.

Thanks

Originally it was an Actinic installation, but it was redeveloped a couple of years ago and I'm pretty sure it's now a bespoke PHP CMS running on mySQL.

right will look into acrinic, havnt got the time or resources to create a bespoke PHP CMS atm

thanks for that.

Does it beat OpenCart?

I've not used Opencart, so I couldn't really comment from a personal point of view. But comparing to something like Prestashop (which I've had the unfortunate experience of using) , it's miles ahead.

But then again, given enough time with something, it'll always make sense eventually.

if it is going to be looked after long term by someone who is not tech savvy then I would say opencart is simpler than magento by a long shot, if the person who uses it every day is competant in this sort of stuff the power of magento is awesome, but I'm yet to meet someone who thought it was easy!

From a hosting point of view Magento is a real resource hog if you have a big commerce website (i.e. shared hosting won't be suitable in many instances) - it's very popular though!
