Right, let the OcUK 1v1 tournament number 5 commence!

Since the numbers worked out very nicely this will be an 8 person double elimination tournament. Hopefully since the numbers are nice this shouldnt be too difficult to finish! :D

A Note on Replays: There are a lot of games to be played, and though I'd dearly love to, it's simply unfeasable for me to observe every one of them . So if possible could I ask the winning player of each match to take responsibility for saving, uploading the replay(s) of the match and posting a link in this thread please. I'm sure by now you know your preferred websites for uploading replays but if you're unsure just post and a flood of suggestions will soon follow. :)


Format:

Each match up to the the finals will be Best of 3, and the finals matches will be Best of 5. No extended series :p.

In each match, the first map will be chosen by each player taking turns to eliminate a map until only one map remains (or at both players' discretion). That then becomes the chosen first map. After that, the losing player in each game will decide the next map.

Indeed. Do the best you can. I'm not going to set massively specific times when you have to play, want to keep it convenient for everyone. But if it does drag on I may start nudging ;)

We used to have quite a strong group going, at least 16-20 regulars who would be happily playing together/competing in these little tourneys. I know a few just moved on due to life in general, others got bored of the game, some I have no idea where they went. :D

I'm sure things will pick up a bit with HotS :)

I'll leave it open in case he finds the time to play the match. But if an opponent comes up in the next round of the lower bracket and you vs vtec is therefore holding up the competition then you'll automatically advance :)

Hopefully joe and booyaka will be playing tonight so you will have an opponent.
 
Things slowing down a bit, come on guys let's get these matches played! :)

Kamwah needs someone to play in the semis, hopefully by the time he's back on the forum :p

:D awesome! Gonna have another tournament after this one's done at some point a few weeks after, but it'll probably be restricted to a weekend or something. I kinda forgot how annoying it can be trying to get these games played :p

Well since it's been a week now and ordinaryjoe seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth I'm happy to just bring this tournament to a close. :)

So, congratulations to frankmcg, shame we didnt get to see the epic BO5 TvP action :D

Not sure if this is going to happen again soon, perhaps we'll just restrict it to a weekend whether people can do it or not. At least we can then do it more often and not have months of waiting around each time :)

Cheers for the feedback though guys, any more is much appreciated!

(although if you guys do want to play a BO5 exhibition match and post the replays that would still be awesome ;))

I agree with Joe, he's easily gotten hold of through Skype or ingame. I found Fragger to be hard to get hold of.

Sorry guys, but joe you couldve posted at any time in this thread to respond to frank asking when you'd be available. I've not seen any tangible efforts towards arranging the match from your side, so that's why it ended up going to him.

Silly way to end a tournament though i know. I really dont want to restrict people to just playing in a 2 day session but it may be the only way to make sure that stuff actually gets done? If you guys have any thoughts let me know :)

It doesn't help Fragger has it set so you can't message him unless you're on his friends list. It's the reason I jumped on him after his games with DanFromMars.

Joe playing games doesnt mean he's making an effort to play his tournament match. Yes he's online but he's passively available, i.e. he's not actually trying to get ahold of frank. If he were then he'd have posted a response/request in this thread, simple as. So far as I've seen Frank's been pretty good about responding to thread posts at the very least. On the other hand Frank has reached out on that assumption that joe would post a response.

That was my reasoning. I'm not going to turn this into a huge debate because no games were played, it's not a huge issue, this tournament just had to finish. I'm not going to let it continue dragging out over months. Anyway tbh they're both joint winners, I just had to put a name in to end the tournament. I wish we'd seen some games to actually declare but oh well..

I'd rather hear more ideas for how we can actually ensure the tournament finishes in a reasonable time :)
