hi there

would the ocuk swift psu range be adequate to power:

e8400
2g ram
dvd rw
320g hdd
printer
and few usb devices?

is the ocuk swift range loud or fairly quiet?

any help and advice would be appreciated

thanks

yes as long as you aren't adding a power hungry gfx card. :)

they do only have 2 sata's on the same cable though so if your dvd is at the top of the case and your hd at the bottom get a molex to sata adaptor if you don't have any lying around.

and they are fairly quiet too

I personally would go for a reputable brand - these PSUs lack protection against any kind of surge, will have higher electricity bills due to being less efficient and won't last nearly as long as a decent PSU. It'll also be louder due to the aforementioned lack of efficiency meaning it chucks out more heat. The 550w rating isn't the truth - it might output 550w at room temperature but considering it's operating temp is 0 - 40c and internally it's never going to be below 40c, it's not going to be able to output what it says it can.

I'd recommend this:

It's only £12 more and you get a safe power supply.
