I've not built (or bought) a PC for a good 8 or 9 years and am getting back on the learning train, plus a bit of gaming so need something with a bit more horsepower. Everything on my current pc is out of date (or beat up looking at the case) bar two SSD so it's a whole build.
It will be both Linux and Win10 machine displaying on 2x 1080 monitors. The two main uses I need it to be able to:

  • run a few Steam games (nothing new atm cos well not having a gfx card for a couple of years means I'm limited to onboard gfx right how)

  • Run ~4 win servers on VM for lab work

  • Run a stable Linux install (Elementary is my current choice but not set in stone)
I've got a current main part build list but was wondering if some bits are overkill, or under specced or just plain wrong.

  • AMD RYZEN 7 3700X

  • 32Gb of Corsair Vengeance DDR4

  • Palit GeForce RTX 2060 StormX 6144MB

  • Samsung 970 EVO Polaris 1TB M.2 2280

  • Kolink KL-850M 850W 80 Plus Bronze

  • Asus PRIME B450-PLUS
I'm not speccing any big cooling solution as I don't expect to be overclocking these days, Win 10 will go on the 1Tb drive and my existing SSD will be used for Linux + VMs.
