You bin these fans :O. You mean you don't have a fan box that you demote them to? Send them to me! My fan box is building up quite nicely.

Seconded. Great for PSU testing and adding to cases that don't have any or all fan spaces populated.

P.S. I also don't see why anyone buying an empty case wouldn't be capable of installing their own fans. If they're intending to build an entire PC, surely they can unscrew 4 screws and replace a fan. A 9 year old could do this. Where as I doubt a 9 year old (Or an average 29 year old) could change disc brakes.

The guy who is going on about "average users" then I highly doubt they would be spending £180 on a case to "build" in.

They would pick from OcUKs prebuilt range which is very good.

I'm with bigDave on this one. No sane man is going to spend a premium on a case for red lights.

The rest of the ideas are great though, watercooling especially. Something a lot of people are put off by. I'm sure pre built watercoolong barebones would sell like hot cakes!

I'd say that with chips getting cooler and money getting harder to find that watercooling would most certainly have taken a nose dive in sales to be honest. Years back with my q6600 I almost considered it but now I have a 2005k and it just simply doesn't need it. The 480 sli on the other hand... haha

Looks Like Tech Labs has grabbed the attention of PC Gamer

Slick interview, do you know if that article will make it into the January mag?

Just a thought for example on watercooled maybe putting a wee rating or guide/table up to help decide amongst those cases how they compare.

And looking under the NOTE section on the watercooled cases I stumbled across a minor spelling error...
Whilst we endeavour to keep watercooling stock levels high for our watercooling systems, there may be some occasions where stock shortages mean that there will be a delay in complteing your order. If this is the case, then our sales team are able to suggest alternative components to allow your order to be completed.

I've had some 100% honest advice on the customer service pre-sales forum from RJkoneil and 5UB regarding a custom loop setup and they've even sourced parts which they don't actually sell in the store at the same time.

Really puts my mind at ease knowing that I can order something in an area of computing I'm not too familiar with, watercooling in this case, yet still get something I can look back on and think "yeah I'm glad I got x over x!" due to the advice given.

Compare this to the system employed by one of the major competitors to OcUK, which still hasn't bothered answering a webmail I sent them. Even though OcUK is a large company, its still nice having that personal level of service, likened to when you go car shopping in a good dealers showroom and they take the time to tell you everything you need to know and more.

Good stuff :)

without a doubt, I agree that whilst not every user has the requirement for a full on watercooling loop, the heat output of modern GPUs and the noise that some of them make mean that watercooling is still very much required for the high end market.

everyone knows that if you are doing a gpu loop then you may as well put the cpu in the loop too.

sales figures don't lie though, and watercooling is looking stronger than ever :)

not sure, I think it may be online only.

I have thought about doing this recently. I will certainly look into it as it will give a clearer indication of what each case is capable of.

thanks for pointing out the error on the site, I will get that changed now.

Thanks for your feedback James
Custom loops are a speciality of ours, 5UB always alerts me to custom loop requests and it is nice to spec up a custom system for a customer. Just how you have seen the attention to detail with your own system, we understand that around 80% of people ordering a watercooling system for their computer is going to want a specialised system bespoke for their needs.

we have excellent relationships with our suppliers which means that we can have rare and specialist items ordered at a moments notice to complete an order.

With watercooling, people don't want compromise and I always find that people tell me that they would prefer to wait for parts to be special ordered from the manufacturers.

Looking forward to seeing your system completed James :)

It would be nice to see a few pics of the built rigs and their insides instead of a stock pic of the case alone...

I have a strange query, can I buy THIS... except, without getting this bit?
Every OcUK D5 Vario & Alphacool HF D5 Top combo is assembled by an Expert OcUK technician and tested for quality assurance before it ships to the customer.

I'd rather do it myself without paying extra to buy them separately :D
