OcUK Value Aspire X-Qpack Cube Case PSU query?

The new ones have 24-pin connectors, the older ones have 20-pin. The new ones tend to last a bit longer too. I would stipulate before buying that you got one with a 24-pin connector.

Thanks WJA96 - just looking for a cheap/small case for a Linux box build.

Well, I wouldn't necessarily recommend that case as they are quite expensive.

Even thou they include a PSU.. I was looking at Silverstones option too cos it will take a 'spare' noisetaker I have kicking around - they any good case wise?

Silverstones cases are usually top class, although sometimes a bit pricey.

Only the black one with windows which is impossible to find, im guessing it is a typo.

Although I am looking at one of these to build a cheap lan system with either an OCed sempron/celeron/2x512mb/80gb/6600gt

The PSU isn't very good. There is some sort of circuit in it that is supposed to protect against surges and it doesn't work. The upshot of it is that it works fine if it's not under much load and you don't attach anything very high load momentarily, but if you have a decent PCIe graphics card with the extra connector, a couple of HDD and a power hungry overclocked motherboard then you're in the danger zone. What usually kills them in my experience is adding a set of cathode tubes. These spike the power when they start up and the PSU can't handle it and it blows. Just totting it up I know of 7 that I personally had RMA'd and I usually replace the Aspire 420W with a Seasonic 250W or a SilenX 350W modular MicroATX PSU as those seem to work just fine and you don't get all the issues with having to buy a particular Sony optical drive just to get it all to fit in. So if you're spending the thick end of £75 on the case and then spending that again on a new PSU then I think it's quite expensive for what is a very flimsy piece of aluminium.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Hmm... might look at the silverstone, as I like the idea of it using standard ATX PSUs, and wack an ASUS NF4 430 board in it.

Please, please, please OcUK get the black windowed model in stock the one with 30A on the 12v rail and you have a customer, plus I'll buy all the other stuff I need as well, motherboard, psu, cooler round about £200 worth of stuff.

Plus I think there are a lot of other people who may buy one of these as well.

Post it in the product suggestion if you have not already ;)

Everythink I have posted in there they have eventually got so all is good :)

Took them 2 months to get the Lian Li TR3-a in stock, but the v1000+'s came in 2 weeks later, although I think they knew about them :p
