I just installed a OcUK sony floppy drive in a OcUK Value IP35 Pro system BIOS 1.2

When I place a disk inside nothing happens and it just will not mount.
Of course it could be a dead.

Things I have tried.

Checked cables.
Enabled in Bios, A Drive [1.44, 3.5in]

I have read you should set FDD swap to "none" but there is no reference to it in the Phoenix bios.

Any pointers. Thanks

I've never had a motherboard that didnt recognise a floppy simply by attaching one to it. You shouldn't need to change any settings, if you have then load optimal defaults again. If the light on the front of the floppy is lit constantly then the floppy cable's back to front, try it the other way round.
Sure it's not just the diskette that's knacked? Tried any others?

Ya I tried flipping the cable round. The green light just stays constant meaning it's the wrong way round.

I bought it from OcUK but never installed it when I did my build.

It could be knackered but then when the cable is round the wrong way I do get a constant green light so it can't be totally dead.

For anyone who experiences the same or similar issues.
The problem was resolved by ENABLING the "onboard FDC Controller"

I guess this was disabled as my original build did not include a FDD.

I still have not been able to update the BIOS for this board either with a floopy or USB stick, but thats another story and another post.
