Right i've had to up the slots due to volume of people who've joined from OCUK. Your all welcome to join us. We have huge LOLZ, genuine fun and loads of proper team work. Be great to see some new faces on there so your all welcome to join.

Pretty much 90% of the people on there are from these forums.

Server is mainly used for BC2, but we do have "other games" room your welcome to use. If you want certain rooms added please let me know. Please note tho that if the server reaches full we will have to kick for people needing it for matches ;)

Great idea !
Even not only for games but could be used for many other things like advice, mm trades and such.


PS. you meant four months I suppose?

Haha yeah four, sorry typing fast!

Yeah i thought it would be a good idea, like i the trade section instead of spamming the forums say jump on vent and we can sort out a deal etc.

Also the public help room can be used for sum1 who is having computer problems! Just added : Selling and buying room

dont be shy guys come on you dont have to talk ;)

I've been hosting a vent for the OcUK L4D community for a while now. Think it's 30 man, but the details are in the L4D2 thread or on the L4D community steam page.

I think there are a few others kicking about but none the less it is a good idea for all people of a similar gaming persuasion to join vent. I managed to convince a fair few OcUK guys to join it when playing and when not playing and it seems to work well!
 
Excellent stuff...need to get a dirt 2 or shift session going with this...its a bit quiet on the vent server at the moment though!
 
Just incase anyone else makes the same mistake as me, the password has to be in upper case, if you keep trying lower case you could get auto banned.
 
This has now been up'd to 32 slot due to the amount of people we have joing us to play BC2!

Had sum great laughs.... roll on BC2 friday nite drunken nite!!! got a shiny knife with your names on ;)
 
I've been on the vent with Oxy a few times , one thing I've noticed is that the codec being used isn't the highest quality available and it's a noticeable difference from the usual ventrilo we are using.

All it would require to fix it is changing the codec for each individual channel , can help you do that if you don't have much experience with Ventrilo adminin'

Other than that I'm looking forward to being on vent more regularly :).

Sounds good Lander anything that will improve vent. I know Lyon is having problems with it so i'l defo speak to you next time your on add me on steam "thegoon84" and talk me through it.

Right then Daaaveee its so on!!! i'm gona make it my friday drunken nite mission to knife you HEAD ON!..... TWICE last nite you sum how managed to evade my knife..... However 3 times a charm as they say wahahahhaha!

Is your vent on a hosting site with a provider or are you doing it yourself? If it's the former (which I suspect) there should be some sort of configuration page where you can change the overall codec used by the vent rather than on a per channel basis.

The generic voice codec is usually: GSM 6.10 (22050Hz, 16bit) 4420bytes/sec.

This is reasonably good quality and far better than the ones used by TeamSpeak by default. People who use MAC (spits) and I know a few have problems as Vent didn't include that codec for MAC users on installation :D

In which case, I now use voice codec: Speex Codec (42KHz, 16bit, 10Qlty) 5520 Byes/sec and that seems to have improved it slightly and also enabled MAC users (spits) to join :)

It doesn't affect performance/lag as most people are on decent connections and improves the quality!
