OcUK's lack of AM2 X2 codes

Anyone else find it odd that OcUK don't show the manufacturing codes for AM2 X2 cpu's in their listings ?

Almost all other online retailers have these displayed, which makes it easier to know if the X2 3600 / 4000 is a Brisbane core (DDBOX) - kinda irrelivant since OcUK dont stock either of these - or if the X2 3800+ is the F3 stepping ( CZBOX - better clockers than Brisbanes apparently )

It could well be because OcUK do not want to have to deal with returns due to a mix of batches that have been coming in and out of OcUK's warehouse.

For example, OcUK might get a batch of X2 3800+ CUBOX F2's and then the next batch to come in is a load of CZBOX F3's. This can happen more than often, so OcUK cannot guarantee this all the time. I mean, I can imagine I'd be a bit miffed if I got an F2 revision X2 3800 if I was expecting an F3 from the product description. See where I'm coming from?

I do. And I'd be more than miffed if that happened

They could always list the seperate ' BOX ' codes, like other do, but if AM2 X2's aren't in great demand because of C2D dominance, I guess it might not be worth the trouble.

Yeah, that could indeed be a possibility. Just might add extra complications setting aside two different batches of CPU. And like you said with Intel CPU's with the new architecture starting from around £55, not many are going down the AM2 route. I've still been doing AM2 builds for people as of late, though.
