4 or 5 days ago I tried my quest pro in assetto Corsa. it was incredible
I had friends around yesterday and it flatly refused to work. my pc could see the quest pro was connected but in the headset it was not seen at all.

wireless worked fine but the image quality is not as good

I faffed about for ages and made a very good case to show that VR is still not out of " for tinkering geeks stage" yet before giving up wondering what I had done wrong.

then checked on the forums and loads have the issue. Meta are investigating with no timeline to fix.
has anyone else tried wired link over the last couple of days? how is it working?.

it really shows how little meta care about pcvr users given this made it through testing and into the wild

They regularly break airlink too. Though if you have a good router you can try switching to h264 and upping the bitrate. I can get wired level quality on a 6E router 'using this one simple trick'. :D

I have a mesh system. it's not 6E however. maybe next time I will get that but for now I can't justify the expense. fingers crossed they fix it soon
thanks for the reply

You don't need a 6E router to up the bitrate.
i upped it to 200 and that seems just about ok albeit possibly a little more iffy sometimes than at default.

if i keep it at the default i used for wired (500) however very bad things happen and it is totally unusual.

Dont get me wrong i appreciate the suggestion however the point still stands. many people do not have good enough wifi regardless..... fundamental key features like link mode should not be rolled out in a broken state..... and from what ravenger said, its not even a rare occurrence.

On a cheap Wifi 5 router that's setup as a dedicated router for the Quest 2, you can push the bitrate up well over 200. Or you can get an AX router for under £50 from Asus. A TP-Link Archer C6 only costs £36 these days and should be able to handle 500mbps. There is too much latency in a mesh setup once you push the bitrate up(depending on how you have setup your mesh network etc.)

As for your problem, have you enabled developer mode and turned on the USB connection dialogue? That should fix your issue.

Just to correct you on one thing :) Link/airlink are not fundamental key features of the Quest line of headsets. The majority of Quest owners don't use PCVR.

You asked how did this update pass any sort of test before release. Well, it probably did pass. This PTC version was even been recommended on Reddit before it was officially released. Sometimes it's only when you release updates to everyone that you start to see issues. The problem is that these issues aren't affecting everyone. Like I am not having any problems with either Link or Airlink.
