OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC4000 Dual Channel Platinum Series
Currently out of stock, any news on when the next shipment is due in? its payday on friday and im looking to blow it all on something. thanks fos any response :-)

Okay another question, would there be much difference between the ocz 2gig 3200 and the 4000? cas latency is better with the 3200 but would that make it a better buy?
Memory will be mainly used for gaming and video rendering, im on an amd 4400x2 if that would inffluence the decision.

As often as I agree with smids, the absolute best ram at the moment is probably what I am using now. I don't know of any Redliners yet that can match it (though i half suspect that there might be a few people who get similar results out of it as I get with my XMS3500LL in the next few weeks and months) and i've certainly seen no OCZs getting that fast and they've been on the shelf long enough that any outstanding results would be common knowledge by now. That said this Corsair is not good enough to warrent the price tag it currently carries. The G Skill ZX is not far off at all and looks to be by far the best value for money.

Actually i didn't know that new OCZ PC4000 was 3-3-2-8 (they had another one didn't they with the same timings as the Ballistix?). It actually probably should compete with both the mushkin and the corsair.

I agree with smids if you want the very best 2Gb kit (good oc potential, timings etc) then its the OCZ EB's or Mushkin Redlines. If it wasn't for their failure rate the Crucial Ballistix would be in there too.

Unfortunatly neither are in stock and when i contacted OcUK a cppl of days ago they said that they still had no eta on the EB's

I have looked everywhere and they are out of stock everywhere with no ETA for any. Maybe a chip shortage of the IC's? I personally don't think I'll stretch to those, sticking with either the PC3200 2-3-2-5 or PC4000 3-4-3-8.

Out of interest, which of the two are better, OCZ or Mushkin?

Well from what i've read results for both seem similar, the EB's are cheaper tho so i was waiting for those.

Lack of IC's is the reason for the shortage however that doesn't seem to be the case anymore...

Quotes from OCZ Reps over at XS (1/9/06)
EB's should be back in stock everywhere very shortly.....solid availability of IC's right now......New batch seems to be really good

Infineon are producing again so supply should come good for those waiting, we are also checking new IC's all the time so please don't think we are sitting still on this.

Personally i've given up waiting and like you i've gone for the GSkill ZX's now that my HZ refund has come thro - good timings at a v good price and the potential for a decent oc too.

wil they be in before march? i cant wait forever.

Well concerning the EB's your guess is as good as mine but i received a mail today from one UK site that has just got the Redlines in stock so i guess OcUK will prob have them too soon.

Depends where you shop i guess?? I know one place that has the mushkin redlines in stock too (more expensive than ocuk though).
