(Okay so the thread title of where i posted this first was probably not that good.)

As I am really after 4GB of DDR3 memory for my 790i (when i get it), (as I don't know how I would cope with only 2GB with vista and crysis et al), I have been looking into the slightly cheaper modules available.

This includes the "OCZ 4GB DDR3 PC3-10666C7 1333MHz Platinum (2x2GB) Dual Channel DDR3 (OCZ3P13334GK)"
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...d=8&subcat=923

Would this be 'compatible' and stable with a Striker II Extreme, and is this pretty good RAM for the money? The latencies are really high!!

Thanks

Only thing is the memory is rated 1.8-1.9V. OCZ's memory chip doesn't like passing this info to the 790i chipset (they insist this isnt a fault! just a known issue!!!)
As such my 790i wont boot with bios in default and this ram in situe :(

If you get this kit, be prepared to get hold of a small cheap 1.5V module (OCUK dont stock anything this low spec -my solution is a 1.5v 1066mhz 512mb stick)

Intially boot with this to get into the bios to change voltage to 1.8+
then reset, remove crappy ram and insert new ram.

This is really useful information. Thanks.

I don't know whether this voltage issue will be the same with an Asus Striker II Extreme? But I am guessing it will. I will search around on the Bay for some cheap DDR3.;)

Anyone else around that has some review about this ram?

thanks again. Probably will get some of this stuff then, as it seems 'reasonably' priced comapred to other DDR3 4GB kits. I can't see better DDR3 4GB kits coming down to the £100-£200 mark for at least some time to come.
