Hello guys,

I have OCZ GameXStream 1010 Watt (OCZ1010GXSSLI-UK) PSU in my computer. Today I wanted to connect new graphics card nVidia 460. Previously I was using nVidia 8800GTX. Computer didn't want to start up properly:
- fans started to spin
- LED diodes switched on
- Post code display showed code "8.3." what is "ATX power supply ready"
then it restarts and again stops on "8.3.".

Abit believes, that it may be a PSU

It may be worth to say, that graphics card started to beep, which indicates no 12V.

I wanted to measure 12V, but as PC keeps resetting, multimeter shows some value and then it goes down to zero. There may be 12V, but just as an impulse.

It was OK with nVidia 8800GTX and started to have a problem with nVidia 460. However, when I connect 8800GTX back, the problem persist.

I removed the graphics card and BIOS battery, reset the BIOS and it was working. I put the graphics card back, problem appeared again (regardless which graphics card was in)

Now after many attempts, PC started up. This is not the first time what something like that happened, but I can't remember, if the fault code used to be the same (it was months ago).

I would say, that it may be 60/40. 60% chance for PSU problem, 40% for mother board problem.

OcUK guys are great, they sent me detailed copy of the invoice and it says, that OCZ GameXStream 1010 Watt is inside, so it is still 7 days in warranty (in case the problem is in PSU).

All ideas would be very appreciated, guys.

Many many thanks guys

Hi guys, thanks for quick responses. I play with it more and more and I find it to be very intermittent, which makes investigation being difficult.
Do you think, that PSU could work intermittently? Or the motherboard may be playing with me?

On Monday I may get a PSU from work, so will connect it and see. The problem is, that computer works fine at the moment.

Have you made 100% sure it's the mobo? If you have, then yes go for that if you wanna spend the money as it's a nice bundle.
If you haven't, then don't go spending money until you have found the cause of the problem otherwise you risk damaging your new shiny toys.
It does sound a bit like the motherboard, but for christ sake it's so much better to be safe than sorry. :)

Tomcat you are 100% correct.
I'm such frustrated, that I can't even think properly.

Today I'll borrow new PSU (hopefully my boss will let be to borrow it).
I'll connect just MoBo, processor, no memory or anything else (I can't think about anything else right now). If the problem will be the same may I start to think it will be a motherboard?

Then I may go just for

intitially I had worries, if it's not a wasting of money (to use just DDR2), but if it would bring my PC to original state, I would be more than happy.

I appreciate your advise, my posts above just prove I'm loosing sanity :D

Tomcat... I owe you a pint apparently... I brought new PSU and PC is like new. I restarted it already about 30 times and works great.

Man... you can't imagine how I feel... I contacted OCZ already and requested RMA, so hopefully everything will be ok and they will repair it in warranty (last 4 days of warranty :D ).

I'm still shocked, I'll speak to you later, when I'll be OK. It was too much stress last days... :D :D

Many many thanks for bringing me back to the ground, I nearly wasted 600 pounds...
I'm seriously shocked. I'm going for one... :D :D
