Somewhere I shouldn't be!
Hi guys,

My mate has 4 x 1GB Limited edition OCZ ram, Spec Ops Edition, he has been having problems in the last week and we have run memtest which has found one of the sticks with errors..... so it needs replacing.

My questions are about the timings, his current chips are 5-5-5-12, I looked on OCUK and found this as a replacement (switching two sticks out)

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-072-OC

The timings for this are 4-4-4-15, what effect will this have? and will it make any difference?

I just want to check before I tell him to order these.

TIA. :)

Is he going to RMA the dead memory?

Mixing memory can be hit-and-miss. The new memory may work at 5-5-5-12, but it may not if it uses different chips.

Not thought about RMAing the memory.... I will put that to him, he is a bit strapped for cash and is working two jobs..... that is a good idea.

Thanks guys.
