Hi guys and happy new year to you all !!!

I have been tinkering around with my system only to realise that the memory upgrade i just installed onto my system doesn't seem to be showing correctly in cpu -z. The memory modules are all from OCz and heres a link of each one.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-082-OC&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=

I have four sticks of this memory in my system. All sticks are labelled as 'ocz2n1066sr2gk', where as cpu-z describes them as 'ocz2n1066sr1g' . Secondly i read a thread where people mentioned problems with 4 sticks of memory not being correctly configured see here for more deets:

http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.asp?m=207136&mpage=1&key=

Is this true or is cpu-z wrong as i have been using 1.3.9 for soo long, just recently i decided to upgrade to the latest version as well as upgrading my bios from p28-p31. Is it ok to jump from p28 - p31. Missing out all the revisions in between or is the current and uptodate revision cummulative. Also i have some screenshots as well. Cpuz shows two sticks of memory as PC2-5300 (333MHz) and then the other two as PC2-6400 (400MHz). When all four modules are the same ........ ????????????????????????????? I have set the memory individually and changed them around they all seem to be correct, cpu-z shows them as being pre-set and not changing. I am really confused about this ...

Bios reports and windows report my o'clock correctly where as cpu-z as being 2ghz and not 3ghz with a multiplier of 6. When the multiplier is actually 9. What is other memory diagnostic utility programs are there, other than cpu-z. As i have tried everest home edition but for some reason that doesn't seems to be picking up the spd information. I could do with another memory information program to compare .......................... .

Also, all memory modules are correctly inserted and in the correct slots. Please see the url below for a .rar file (<150K file) download containing all my CPU-Z screenshots.

Yip it's fine to skip BIOS versions.

Ignore the SPD tab of CPU-Z. It's the Memory tab that tells you what's going on. It would need to read 533mhz 5-5-5-15 when your memory has been set to its correct settings. You'll need to do this manually in the BIOS, as well as setting the correct voltage for it.

Your CPU is dropping to the x6 multiplier due to the Speedstep powersaving feature. It will jump back to x9 once you apply load to the machine.

ty for the reply, the cpu i manage to get that sorted.

The memory i haven't,

as this is what i have got mate ........

CPU-Z --> Memory Tab (1.42)

General
______

Type: DDR2 / Channels #: Dual
Size: 4096 MBytes

Timings
______

DRAM FREQ' : 333.4 MHZ
FSB:DRAM : 1:1 (link and Sync')
CAS# Latency (CL) : 5.0 clocks
RAS# to CAS# Delay (tRCD) : 5 clocks
RAS# Precharge (tRP) : 5 clocks
Cycle Time (tRAS) : 15 clocks
Bank Cycle Time (tRC) : 19 clocks
Command Rate (CR) : 2T

Default Memory settings, nothing changed or set by me, thats how they stand. So does this sound right about to you as 5-5-5-15 is what the mnftr recommends the memory modules be run at as well as the fact that many people complain of having problems with 4 sticks of 1gb memory especially OCZ on the EVGA mobo' forums.

The voltage for the memory has always been set to auto but atm its 1.8V, i will confirm this after a reboot. Above are exactly what the correct settings are supposed to but could it be running at 333.4 because i have it running in 1:1 (FSB:DRAM) ????

Thanks Mate For the Reply,

Ibrar

Yip the 5-5-5-15 in the CPU-Z screen is the 5-5-5-15 that your memory is designed to run at at 1066mhz.

And yes it's at 333mhz (666mhz in reality as it's Double Data Rate memory) because it is running at 1:1 with your CPU's FSB speed.

You will need to Unlink the memory and manually set it to 1066mhz in BIOS to get it's advertised speed. But you will also have to manually set the correct memory voltage of atleast 2.1v to be able to run the memory at 1066mhz.

ty man.

Although it doesn't explain why i have the same sticks of memory off the same brand and model bght off the same supplier, both off which register with cpu-z in the spd tab with different details. One set register as PC2-5300 and the other two register as PC2-6400 @.@ this one has me really stumped

I am planning on putting my post on OCz forums see what they have to say about this. Because i paid for ocz2n1066sr2gk memory, 4 sticks of it, and instead i get ocz2n1066sr1g sure i am not at fault here.

Thanks man !
