Bought some of this from Ocuk the other day and for love nor money will it run at it's rated speed.

It will run fine @ 266mhz, 12-4-4-4 timings in dual channel. I've run Prime95 and memorytest86 but if I try going higher the PC won't even post!! Surely this can be classed as faulty as it's nowhere near it's rated speeds of 333mhz, 15-5-5-5.

If I'd wanted PC4200 I'd have bought some....

I have the PC5300 stuff, bought earlier in the year, 2 x 2GB, and it runs at 800 at 5-5-5-18 at "normal" voltage as my Gigabyte BIOS calls it, which I presume is 1.8v. Ran memtest overnight with no errors. I had these sticks here unused, and am running them while I wait for my Crucial RMA. Now I don't think the Crucial will be going back in..... machine is running magnificently

So yours may well be faulty

Fixed it!

Seems this motherboard, Asrock 4CoreDual VSTA, requires a modded BIOS to run 4gb of DDRII RAM... as the official BIOS won't work and give the problems I was having. Very clever of them?
