After crying about the rev.2 being cheaper than the rev 1 i bought around 1 month ago, I'm over it, but I'm still trying to make the most out of my RAM.

At the moment I'm running at 430MHZ FSB so 860MHZ with the RAM. I have a DS3 and am running the RAM on auto, but I want to tighten the timings if possible.

Currently i have timings of 5,6,6,17 but I'm sure it's possible to decrease this, I was just wondering what kind of timings I should be looking at. (It says 5,5,5,15 at 800MHZ - so I'm sure I should be able to get near / past that)

So basically, what kind of timings would you tighten them to, and what overvoltage should I use (it's at +0.3 atm, but that was following the advice on the CPU clocking, maybe i put it too high [i read that performance RAM should have an extra 0.2-0.3 volts to run properly])

(anyone with this memory would be very helpful if you posted what you managed)

Cheers.

+3 should be fine.

I thought the Rev 1 was 4-5-4-15?

Anyway, try them. They're the first four timings in the DS3's BIOS. ie-

4
5
4
15

You can leave the rest on Auto.

4-5-4-15 was unstable, put it up to 5-5-5-15 and it's fine.

What kind of performance increase will i get from clocking it further? How much difference is there really between 4 and 5? is it like 4/5ths the speed or it a much smaller gap?

Edit: been running the 5-5-5-15 for 30mins now and still no problem so seems OK (I don't use much serious RAM intensive stuff anyway - more a games man).

Give me revision 2 :(

Try 4-5-5-15 instead.

But you'll not notice the difference between 4 and 5. It will affect benchmarks, but not normal applications.

As for clocking the RAM, you'll see more of a difference if you're clocking your FSB as well (which you'll probably be doing anyway).

Yeh, just got a Tuniq Tower and cut my temps down by 20+ degrees (looooooove Tuniq) so I'm thinking of trying 3.5ghz with the RAM at 1000MHZ (obviously slackened quite a lot).

30idle 50 load at 3.1ghz (6300), I'll be squeezing everything I can safely out of it :p
