Hey all I was just checking through my system checking settings etc and noticed My cpu 12v+ is down to 7.2 odd volts can anybody shed some light on this, I assume it's meant to run 12v + constant! Psu spec is in my sig. Thanks peeps....
Software readings of voltages are unreliable to the point of being useless. Check with a multimeter, preferably during load, or forget about it.
Your 12V line must be within 5% of the nominal value to conform to the atx spec, so the motherboard should cope just fine with input voltages anywhere from 11.4 to 12.6V. Obviously the closer to 12V the better, but it doesn't matter all that much. At 7V I'd be astonished if the computer turned on.
Is there any other software i could use to check the voltage outputs from psu? and hats the easiest way to test using multimeter? is there a write up? cheers James
Time to dig the old faithfull multimeter out then i think..... So if i run prime95 blend test and check voltages at psu that will be an ok test at load?
