OCZ RAM failure, what do I do now?

One of my sticks of OCZ platinum RAM has failed, I emailed [email protected] regarding an RMA on Thursday evening. I haven't had a response yet and was wondering if anyone had dealt with an OCZ RMA before?

I bought the memory from OCUK and I see now that OCZ are recommending that any faulty RAM should be RMA's with the reseller when possible. SO I suppose I will give that a try..

I contacted ocuk support and they have agreed to RMA the RAM, as long as it fails their tests, very pleased with the response. I'm just a bit paranoid that the RAM will work for them though ;) I have tried it in 2 totally different machines and another variant of the 2 and in all cases it has prevented the machine from even posting, so I shouldn't be too worried.

but i does happen lol my brother rma a dvd writer last week as it worked in windows but would'nt read any media and when they tested it they said nothing wrong with it lol he said he;s going to bin if they sent it back broke lol :D

Limited Lifetime....Whatever that means!!

Oh right I've got a stick of 256Mb PC3700 EL-DDR thats died. To be fair I bought a pair of sticks back in 2003 so I'm probably pushing my luck but seeing as I've never OC'd my system it odd that only ones failed. Maybe I'll drop em a line, they can only tell me to get stuffed.. ;)

Well ocuk don't seem to know when, if ever, OCZ will ship replacement DDR memory, even though they seem to have received DDR2 memory from them. So I have been without my RAM for over a month and a half and it may never be replaced.

I asked ocuk what they could do for me, they looked at their RAM, the only model that comes close to mine is this Corsair memory:

Corsair 2GB DDR XMS3200C2PT TwinX (2x1GB) CAS2 (MY-079-CS)

Mine was platinum OCZ PC3200 2-3-3-6, almost identical, just mine was guaranteed to over volt (although I never really needed this, or used it). This is priced at £205 at ocuk so they won't give me this RAM (mine cost £164, £173 with delivery). They say the price difference is too high. I'm pretty annoyed by this, they won't give me a discount or anything, they accepted an RMA, found it to be faulty, said they would replace it, now expect me to pay £40 for a straight replacement :/ They say DDR prices have gone up due to a phasing out in favour of DDR2.

The only sensible offer I have on the table is a straight refund, obviously the money is no good at ocuk, I have found the corsair I mentioned above £20 cheaper than ocuk offer (since when did ocuk become this expensive?) and also some other Corsair RAM listed as: (TWINX2048-3200C2PT) 2GB (2 x 1GB Matched Pair) which is £158, anyone got any idea why they differ in price? They have slightly different model numbers, but they are both 2x1GB matched pairs, DDR400, 2-3-3-6. I assume the cheaper one is an older model?

hmmmmm

It continues, I contacted OCZ directly and they say they have my RAM in stock and would be more than happy to replace it. I contacted ocuk and they told me OCZ never respond to them and lie about things being replaced...

So I asked ocuk to just give me the RMA details for my RAM (which they say they have sent to OCZ) so that I deal with this myself, ocuk refuse to give me this information (???). Instead the person said they will get a manager to talk to OCZ. Well I say, do you want the contact details of the person at OCZ that has all my info and wants to deal with my RMA? No ocuk say. What about all this trouble getting hold of OCZ, you say you never get a response and they lie to you? Oh thats only if I do it, it will work when my manager does it.....

This is ******** of the highest order, 2.5 months so far and ocuk never seem the slightest bit interested in helping me, 1 forum post, and 1 email took me 2 days to get hold of someone at OCZ who just needs my RAM to complete an RMA.
