OCZ Reaper HPC won't run at advertised speed (CRC errors)

Silly question but must ask, you did reinstall Windows after the board swap?

EDIT: If refering to bootable memtest please ignore me

No I haven't reinstalled Windows yet, but it was indeed bootable memtest86+ v4 from CD so that rules that out. Besides, the Windows memory diagnostic is a boot-test anyway so surely that wouldn't affect the results?

I guess I can only RMA the OCZ sticks and see what happens. I'm quietly going insane in the meantime.:(

Sounds like you have some bad luck there mate. I have heard plenty people say they can't get higher than 6400 spec RAM to run at it's rated speeds :(

The competitor (local) who I bought the 6400 stick from said I can take it in tomorrow morning. They'll memtest it there and then, and either (1) confirm it's faulty and swap for a Corsair Select Value which will be memtested before being given to me, or (2) confirm it is NOT faulty, and send me away scratching my head again.

Their tech guy said it sounds very much like super bad luck, as with a new mobo there's not much else that could actually be wrong. Fingers crossed for tomorrow lol

Final update:

The new replacement stick WAS faulty/DOA. Talk about bad luck. I've now got a Corsair XMS2 stick which works perfectly, passing all memtest86+ passes, Windows Memory Diagnostics etc, and which is allowing me to repair archives using QuickPAR perfectly. :D I've RMA'd the Reapers so finally, despite buying a new mobo I didn't need, I have sorted the issue. As a plus though, I by far prefer the Gigabyte board to the Biostar - and now I have the excuse to build a new machine with the 'old' board. Or sell it.

Thanks again to all who contributed. It was very frustrating but I've learnt a lot! :)
