Odd Ball Interview Questions

#

* There are approximately 5,000,000 people living in Chicago.
* On average, there are two persons in each household in Chicago.
# Roughly one household in twenty has a piano that is tuned regularly.
# Pianos that are tuned regularly are tuned on average about once per year.
# It takes a piano tuner about two hours to tune a piano, including travel time.

Is this common knowledge?

My mate used to interview people for a call centre and asked : "Are Jaffa Cake's a biscuit or a cake. Discuss!"

:D

It's a cake!
Leave a packet of jaffa cakes and biscuits open for a few days. Biscuits go soft when left, cakes go hard..... jaffa cakes go hard ;)

Another, far easier IMHO, question I've heard of graduates being given elsewhere is "Why is a manhole cover round?"

it can't fall though and is more structurally sound under the weight of traffic ie won't bend and point upwards into tyres (the covers are usually square on pavements) :p

It won't point towards tires that’s for sure.

There's man carrying a brick standing in a rowing boat on a small pond, what happens to the water level of the pond if he drops the brick he is holding into the water?

(assuming there are no ripples caused by the brick or the boat bobbing, i.e. after the water surface has settled to being flat again)

Absolutely nothing.

The implication is that the water level would rise slightly due the volume of the brick, but the boat would now displace less water now that the brick is no longer on board, thus the effects cancel each other out, and there is no net effect to the water level.
