Odd Ball Interview Questions

At my last interview I was asked "What type of animal would you be if you could be anything, and why?". Questions like that annoy me,as firstly I fail to see how it's in anyway relevant to whether I can do the job or not, and secondly my subconscience instantly begins mocking the rather farcical situation by feeding me utterly daft answers whilst I'm trying to give a serious response. In that particular instance my mind was suddenly flashing up "A PANDA 'COS IT EATS, SHOOTS AND LEAVES LOL" on a brightly lit billboard, with fireworks erupting around it and the 1812 Overture blasting away in my head as I struggled to suppress the urge to laugh. I eventually said something along the lines of "Some sort of ape I suppose as I find my opposable thumbs to be quite handy.".....

And no, I really didn't intend the pun either. After realising what I'd said and grimacing inside, my head then flooded with a torrent of masturbation jokes and I was back to struggling to suppress the urge to laugh.
 
I'm sorry, I forgot that everyone seems to require an overdose of stupid smiley images to indicate that a post is being done in jest.

Sarcasm is pretty difficult to spot without facial expression and voice tone, so yes, in future please abide by the "overdose of stupid smiley images to indicate that a post is being done in jest" rule.

I had a question at an interview along the lines as to what the main consumer drivers were towards faster broadband - my response, porn and piracy :D

No, the answer is that when the brick is in the man's hand the boat displaces an amount of water equal in weight to the weight of the brick, lets say the brick weighs 1Kg, it'll displace 1 litre of water.

When the brick is in the water the boat doesn't displace that litre of water. However as bricks are more often than not more dense than water the volume is occupies will be <1 Litre. From that we can say that the water level in the pond will drop. :)

There are 100 hundred lights that are all switched off. There are 100 people. The first person comes along and switches every switch so that all lights are on. The second person switches every second switch. The third person switches every third switch...and so on until the hundredth person switches the hundredth switch only.

Is the 64th light on/off and subsequently which lights are on?

Requires a bit of thought as I doubt doing it by brute force would impress the interviewers. Doing it for fun isn't too difficult but not sure I'd have got it so easily if it was dropped on me in an interview.

Is the answer 'On' for the 64th light? I can't be bothered with working out which are on and off right now.

Person numbers 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 and 64 will touch switch 64. So that's 1 on, 2 off, 4 on, 8 off, 16 on, 32 off, 64 on.

If you know that 64 = 2^6 it really isn't that hard.
 
This is from a recent interview I had

If an analogue clock is showing a quarter past three what is the gap between the hour hand and minute hand in (answer in degrees)
