Odd behaviour or just coincidence?

I've had my HTC Hero with Orange for 18 months now, for the last 12 the signal and network connection haven't been exceptional, around 3 bars regardless of location, and the network often sits and does nothing at peak times or in busy areas.

Because of this I was going to move to Vodafone, however, oddly enough a month exactly to the day until my contract with Orange expires, my signal and network speed has become phenomenal, full signal bars and fast consistent net connection.

I've even just been through an area that's normally a 3g blackspot with full signal :/

Is this sort of behaviour just a coincidence or is this typical to keep customers?

conspiracy theories for the win, they will have just upgraded the masts near you

well ive got a opposite for you, Vodafone rang me asking for me to upgrade, told them i was cancelling at the end of the contract and all of a sudden my phones gone borked, crap signal, keeps turning off, Mobile internet lets me onto a couple of pages then just stops and i have to reconnect... never had a problem with the phone, until i told them i was cancelling... coincidence Mmmmm maybe

Whatever possible reason would Vodafone have for doing that? They will want you to come back to them again at some point so why would they sabotage your phone? Big companies don't have 'revenge' policies you know when customers leave. ;)

When my last contract with Three was due to expire, I told them I was going to look elsewhere first and they sent a man round to hold me at gunpoint to sign another contract!

True story!

;)
