Ok, hardware:

BFG 680i
e6600
2x512 corsair xms2 pc6400

Basically, clocked or not clocked, cpuz detects the multi as being 6, but windows/orthos/bios detects it as being 9 (it is set at 9)

cpuz also states that the ram devider is 7/8 @ 350mhz fsb (ram is set to 400mhz) so this is correct, just the multi issue...

Whats up with cpu-z do you reckon?

EDIT: PCwizard also detects it as 6 (not got round to actually installing any decent monitoring software yet..)

Alos, never use orthos before, just prime95, whats the best way of stressing the system for stability? when i use default settings, some part of my computer makes an odd noise, pretty sure its not a fan.. but its almost like the noise of a cable 'just' being caught by a fan, not completely hit, but just touching like.. cant seem to locate where the sound is coming from..

erm, 139?

thats the version i have, and for some reason, it seems to have resolved itself :o

But the noise that happens appears to be the cpu???? surely not.. not just orthos that makes it happen, but whenever its running over about 30%.. bit odd isnt it?

hmmis was almost like a slightly quieter version of a 'noisey hard drive'

I'm assuming the cap vibration would be bad :/

I have the same board as you (EVGA 680i) and it makes the same sound when i run orthos etc ;) nothing to worry about.

hmm, i can actually see the cpu jumping from 2000mhz to 3000mhz (333fsb) im assuming this must be speedstep... although it is turned off in the bios.. (well, its disabled, but greyed out as though its an option i cant change)

Does this sound right?
