Odd characters in email from Japan

A friend is making their way to NZ and have stopped off in Japan. They sent an email via their Hotmail account but I recieved the following gibberish
Hi, just to say we@‚ˆ‚‚–‚…@arrived@okBplease@‚ƒ‚‚ނނ…‚“‚”‚‚ƒ‚”@meBMartha@has@the@‚Ž‚•‚‚‚‚…‚’@i‚‚•‚’@‚‚ˆ‚‚Ž‚…@‚Ž‚•‚‚‚‚…‚’jD
Does anyone know how the heck I translate this?
 
Hi, just to say we have arrived ok。please connest・ ≠モ煤@me。Martha has the number (ou・ 秩@phone number).

Change character encoding to Japanese shift jis, can't get it any clearer :(
