Odd Crashes

Hi all,

Just got back from uni for a weekend and been having some trouble with desktop doing a variety of odd crashes. It will occasionally not POST at all. Sometimes it boots up and runs fine, and will then blue screen and restart. This is usually followed by a failed POST.

Sometimes it gets to the Windows load screen and freezes there. Just today it has frozen a couple of times accompanied by a repetitive system beep, and not a POST code I recognize. Just a constant series of short beeps.

Any ideas what it could be? Temps are fine by the way.

The random variation in these crashes leaves me stumped.

Cheers,
James

What PSU?
If PC is that of your signature and PSU is from same time and cheaper model I would suspect failing crap capacitors.

That's good PSU with quality components.

You might want to try another graphics card, I almost forgot that Nvidia had design flaw in 8000-serie card manufacturing which causes break up of soldering under ICs.
