Hi there,
Just rebuilt my pc to incorporate a new CPU, and now having random crashing problems.
At random points the PC will freeze. Not BSOD, not reboot, just freeze and the keyboard and mouse will lose power.
Unplugging mouse and replugging means the power comes back for maybe 2seconds, then goes again.
The initial thought is obviously that the new CPU is causing issues, whether it be faulty or not seated correctly.
I would have thought however, that if the CPU was faulty/not seated properly, that the PC wouldn't do much at all, whereas in reality it will crash after maybe 30mins of doing anything, then after a reboot it will work fine for hours (playing css/cod:waw).
I've just tried installing Vista onto my new Raid0 setup, and it froze just after loading, where it asked me what Network settings I wanted.
- I've checked all temperatures, CPU is fine (25-30C idle), NB is fine (50s, normal afaik), graphics card is fine (idles 48-50C, load up to 70C).
- I've checked RAM seating, soundcard seating, graphics seating.
- All power cables appear to be fine, all data cables appear to be fine.
- I've checked voltages in BIOS and all are set to what they should be (according to my previous CPU and the internets).
- I've tried the soundcard in different PCI slots just in case it's an IRQ allocation conflict.
-
Rig as follows:
Q6600 G0 (stock)
DFI P35-T2RS
4GB Corsair Dominator DDR2 1066MHz
HD 4870x2
X-Fi xtreme gamer soundcard
2x320GB hdds (Raid0) - crashes on previous O/S install on my single 640GB hdd aswell
Corsair TX 750W
I've got another PSU I can try, so I'll will swap that out tomorrow and see how long the system lasts.
I will try reseating the CPU as a last resort as it's the most hassle.
If anyone has any ideas as to what it could be they would be much appreciated.
