odd error* with 5770

just installed my new 5770 and im getting some odd problems.
when i start up i get a blank screen for about 30 seconds while i can hear my hdd spin up then click then spin up again (this happens like 8 times).
the startup is a lot slower then before
and my pc seems slower in general too.
is this because i was a numpty and was far too excited to uninstall my old drivers? or would that make any difference at all?

im also getting problems with horizontal lines appearing on my desktop when i open new windows for about 1/4 of a second :S

Hi, which gfx port are you using, both my 5770's have screen corruption when using HDMI. However this disapears when using the same lead through the HDMI/DVI converter...
