Odd fuzzy text on new monitor

Hi All,

I just bought a Iiyama Prolite XB2779QS but I'm having problems getting it set up correctly. Text is displaying very oddly.

Pictures seem to be ok but text is fuzzy. I've tried running through the cleartype setup wizard but it didn't help.

I'm running windows 8.1.

Does anyone have any suggestions please?
 
Yes. 2560 x 1440.

I guess it could be my graphics. Just using the IGP in my motherboard. But it is supposed to support that resolution. And I've got no problems playing HD video scaled up to native resolution. It just seems to be the text.
 
Problem seems to have been the DVI cable. Replaced it with the one that came with the monitor and it works fine.

The new ones looks like it has more pins.

Odd that the old one could display the full resolution but just doesn't do it properly. I'd have expected it to either work or not work...

Now using DVI-D (dual link)
 
But isn't it odd that it let me select 2560 x 1440 and that it worked fine apart from the text...

Oh well. Problem solved now anyway :)
 
I mean it was probably just outputting 1080p and upscaling in the monitor (zooming in) which looked blurry?

Good discovery though.
