Odd Gfx card related (?) boot problem

For whatever reason, my computer today has decided not to boot up (it was fine last night). Usually I push the power button, all the fans/hd's/drives start up with the gfx card fan throttling down to a barely audible hum.

But its not. Its going full pelt, and the whole thing isn't booting up. No matter what what I try it just doesn't want to know! What could the problem beeeee?

Have you moved it or given it a bump recently? Could be something come loose or needs to be reseated. How old is the Antec?

No bumps - it was working last night and it hasn't moved since then! The Antec is about 4 months old tops.

Have same problem SOMETIMES on a Nvidia 6800 GT.

My suspicions lie with the cooling of the card. When I had dodgy watercooling on it, which I suspect wasn't making full contact somewhere, it wouldn't boot up - exact problem you have. Just kept on turning it on and off, letting it load windows (even though I couldn't see it, I could tell it was loading because drives were clicking away). Now got a normal heatsink back on it (Zalman copper one) and it loads up fine everytime.

Try placing a fan so that it blows onto the card.

I left it a few days, changed the monitor output to the second Digital one and its now at least starting to boot.

The problem now is that it only gets to "Chipset Model" before it freezes and does nothing. Any ideas?

Have you tried a CMOS reset?
