Odd insurance quote

I was just reading about supercharged MX5s, trying to downplay the usual "what a great idea" that automatically comes to mind with the thought of "it's £3000 for something that you're not going to use that much and won't really add a lot of value to the car".
For a laugh I thought I'd check to see what the insurance would be on a TVR Chimera, or an S2000.

As I live in London, insurance for my MX is £500, despite being an old git.
Unsurprisingly, the S2000 came back with a quote of £1230. What amazed me was a quote for the TVR of £680.
Just where is the logic to that? Are Privilege assuming that the TVR would spend so much time in the garage that you'd never get a chance to crash it, and that the thief would never be able to nick it?

Has anyone else found this? Are TVR suddenly a more sensible option? After all, £600 a year would certainly help on the maintenance and fuel costs.

I still can't get the thought of a TVR out of my head, despite how silly it might be.

It's like your parents telling you not taunt the dog as one day it will bite you, but simply being unable to resist.
Maybe a better analogy would be the Borg one.

I've read in the past comments of "you should own a 911 at least once in your life". My version should have had the 911 changed for a TVR, still fancy one despite knowing it's financial suicide.

Wonder if I can find one on Sunday to look at?
