Hello there.

Currently I have set up my IP address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway myself (you know, in the TCP/IP properties)
But the other day after looking around some websites, my internet connection stopped working.

Now the only way I can get it to work is to set it to obtain IP address automatically (which buggers up port forwarding) or every time I turn my PC on I have to change the last number of my IP address between 136 or 70 !?!?!

Does this sound like anything anyone has heard of ??
(ohhh, I'm connected wirelessly if that helps ??)

Cheers

sounds like your isp uses dymanic ip address range (which is the norm) unless you ask or pay for a static ip address..

if you where on a web site and it stopped working, chances are what happened it disconnected from the internent and then your adsl modem reconnected again with a different ip address..

dont really understand why you need a static ip address to enable port forwarding??

I'm not sure either.
I'll openly admit I am the king of the noobs when it comes to network issues.

My ISP assigns my IP dynamically, but there is a turorial on my torrent program that tells me how to get a fixed IP.
That's been working fine for the last few months... UNTIL NOW !!! :(

The odd thing for me is the whole changing between 70 and 136 thing.
Any chance I got something malicious on my PC ?
