Currently got quite an odd issue with my Asus Xonar DG.
I just reinstalled Windows 7 on my computer (specs in sig) and the sound card drivers just. won't. install.
First time I tried it with the latest Asus original ones, the ones I had been using before. It got to the end of the install and announced:
"Please plug in Xonar Audio device!"
It's plugged in, needless to say.
I have tried:
Different PCI slots.
Unplugging the front panel leads.
The Unified driver for Xonar cards.
Driver Cleaner (needless to say).
The really odd thing is, it does kind of work. Periodically, I get sound after one of these 'failed' driver installs. I just don't have the Asus Xonar center. It's kind of useless without the Asus Xonar center (which doesn't install) since I can't change the settings for the headphone amp.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this, or even some workaround for changing the headphone amp settings? It's really quiet on my headphones at the moment and they sound flatter than they normally do.
They're just cheap headphones (Corsair HS1A) and I wouldn't be that bothered but I'd like my 6 month old sound card to work properly, too. The onboard sound on this board is terrible.
Also, I hope this is the right section for this. This didn't seem to be the kind of question for the Sound section because, well, driver issues.
