Odd netgear DG834G v4 firmware problem

hi,

it basically goes like this...

firmware version 5.01.09 connects to xbox live fine. load up fifa 09 and connects to EA servers fine. can then find and play game online.

firmware version 5.01.14 connects to xbox live fine. load up fifa 09 and cannot connect to EA servers.

i drop back to 5.01.09 and all is good again. this is all within a matter of 20 mins or so.

the reason i tried 5.01.14 is because i'm moving over to ADSL2+ next week and I may need to use the latest firmware.

strange problem though! has anyone else had the same?

ps...all other aspects of using 5.01.14 (internet, email and xbox live in general seems to be fine)

looks like it may be a problem with the firmware as the ps3 has problems as well

looks like 5.01.14 is a no no then when it comes to PS3 online or xbox live!

i've not tried any DGteam firmware yet...and it's certainly an option but i think i'll stick with 5.01.09 for now.

I had a very similar issue with the latest dg834 v4 firmware that in Counter Strike Source with net_graph showing I was only getting 60in on all servers, should be getting 100.

so I I then tried the dgteam firmware...same thing.

So i just went back to the old one

Youve answered your own question guys, just because a new firmware update is out it doesn't mean you HAVE to install it.

If your current firmware is working without issues and there are no critical security fixes in the new firmware - 'if it aint broke, dont try to fix it'
