Hey guys, okay basically, when ever I boot my pc up, the network connection logo in the bottom right of the screen it has the spinning circle for about a min until im connected to the internet? but my missus pc next to me connects instantly?

Iv tried a few different things past few days uninstalling junk that might help and it hasn't, tried the latest network drivers the lot.

and its not a router problem as its connected 24/7 and iv tried different ports on it, but every other device connects instantly to the router.

any ideas?

thanks

I use a netgear DG834GT, I had a DG834v3 until 2 weeks ago I got the GT because I can change my internets snr etc for more stability and speed and its a fantastic router.

But, its not the router as iv had this problem with my pc since before I switched routers.

Iv tried with all non Microsoft services toggled off etc on boot in msconfig also with all startup progs off, still doesn't change, ill try in safe mode when I have time tomorrow to see if it still does it.

And nope I don't use power line, my router is sat right next to my pc using cat5e cables to all devices in my house apart from mobile phones.

And my motherboards lan is a Intel(R) 82579V gigabit network connection

edit: infact ill try safe mode with networking give me a min

Ok.. booted with safemode and networking, the second the logo appeared in bottom right, it was with the yellow ! for literally quarter for a second then was connected.

So I booted up normally, and it connected fast this time, but literally id say it connects fast 1 time out of 20. so it was just pot luck that it was this time after safe mode im saying, but then again its just connected fast twice but once was in safe mode which might of been why.

So is that information any good? In the morning if it connects slowly again, I will try safemode instantly after and see if it connects fast or slow.

Just booted up my pc now and it took a while to connect again, tried safe mode took a while to connect again, booted my missus pc up and it connected instantly, so ill have a go at static I.p thingy.

Also ty bledd. ill download the drivers off there now first and see if that cures it :)

New drivers didn't make any difference, was still stuck like this for 60 seconds after boot up.

Wahoo, iv done it, managed to do the static i.p thing, it works absolutely fine now, booted up a few times. connected instantly the moment I got to my desktop.

Cheers guys, one last question, can I just run this static ip address for ever now? or shall I change it now and again to my router or something?

thanks
